Chapter 344: The Immortal Hunter's Guild
.......
The Immortal Hunter's Guild.
The people who worked in this place were what the noblemen called the 'savage monkeys.' Starting at the Human Immortal Realm, just about anyone could apply to become an Immortal Hunter. Moreover, as long as one possessed the necessary strength, one could easily ascend the Immortal Hunter's Guild ranks.
It was an organization where strength and battle experience really were the only things that mattered, making it far from what Azmodeus required as a construction worker.
But regardless of what this or that was or wasn't, Azmodeus wanted to get back on the eternal grind ahead of schedule, so that's exactly what he did!
-
While walking through the crowded streets of Everveil's Royal Capital, Azmodeus was put amidst the hustle and bustle of an enormous city dominated by powerful immortals. Ranging from the Half-Immortal Realm to over 5 Major Realms above, he experienced what it was like to be in the true jewel of the kingdom.
Although Azmodeus had seen and even spoken with Immortals beyond the Earth Immortal Realm, it was different this time around. Rather than influential people who used their families' money in order to gain their power, the Immortals outside the Immortal Hunter's Guild were of the more dangerous type.
'They are people who used their own strength to obtain more strength. They are nowhere near the same as those silk pants I met previously.'
Azmodeus's thoughts stirred as he blended in with the crowd of weapon-carrying maniacs. Acting just as they would, he took long, lofty strides toward the front doors of the Immortal's Hunter Guild. After entering through those doors, everyone inside immediately honed in on his existence.
In that moment, Azmodeus could feel dozens of presences that could crush him with just their thoughts. But even under such daunting auras, he faltered not one bit. Walking through their piercing gazes, he neared the front counter. At the same time, Azmodeus realized he was no longer being stared at.
Instead, everyone returned to what they were previously doing, whether that was chitchatting or discussing new quests.
"Hello, sir. What can I do for you today?"
Taken out of his thoughts by the cordial voice of the receptionist lady, Azmodeus looked up at her and noticed that even her cultivation was leagues above his own...
In spite of that fact, he found his gruff, gnarly voice and said, "I would like to sign up."
"You would like to sign up?" Asked the receptionist lady.
"Yes, that is what I said. Now, can it be done?"
Understanding that there was more to this Human Immortal Realm Cultivator than just his cultivation base, the receptionist lady stopped her little act. Quickly, she reached under a wooden counter and grabbed a pen and some paper. Handing both to the large, robust man before her, she said, "All you need to do is put your name and cultivation level here and here.
After that, I will test you with this to verify the truth of the matter."
Taking out an iridescent ball from her storage ring, the receptionist lady put the ball on the counter. Waiting for her guest to finish singing the papers, she stood there with her hands clasped over the other. Wearing a warm, friendly smile on her beautiful face, she appeared quite heavenly on the outside. But when it came to the Immortal Hunter's Guild, nothing was ever as it seemed...
Regardless of that information, Azmodeus finished signing the documents. Putting the pen and paper off to the side, he pulled the crystal ball close and touched it with both hands. Just as he expected, a bright flash of pearlescence lit up the area above the counter. Eventually, it calmed down and presented a series of words for the receptionist lady and Azmodeus.
[Cultivation Value: Grade 4 Human Immortal]
[Battle Power: Grade 6 Human Immortal]
For some reason, these results put a slight look of surprise on the receptionist's face. Bringing up what was on her mind, she said, "To have a Battle Power two minor realms above your own... were you, by chance, born with a 'unique physique'?"
Lucifer nodded his head in confirmation and took his hands off the crystal ball. After watching the words fade from its surface, he turned his face up to the receptionist lady, only to see a plethora of inexplicable emotions pass through her expression.
Ultimately, she returned to complete neutrality and said, "Normally, your cultivation would only allow you to become an F-Rank Immortal Hunter. But since your Battle Power is so high in comparison, I have decided to use my authority to bump you up into the E-Rank."
"Oh? And what can I do with this Rank?" Asked Azmodeus, his brows raised to a point.
"For starters, you can skip past the mandatory menial tasks that F-Rank and below Immortal Hunters must accept and complete. Furthermore, you have the option to accept quests without a party, though it is still highly uninvisable. There are other benefits, but those are likely the ones to most affect you right now."
Bowing her hand above the wooden counter, the receptionist summoned a holographic screen. On the screen, a long page of words described the intricacies of the ranking system, particularly those pertaining to the F-Rank and below.
Taking a few brief glances at this page, Azmodeus made use of his highly advanced memory retention rate. Imbibing everything shown before him, he received a good rundown of the Immortal Hunter's Guild. And from what he could tell, the guild wasn't all that different from the Adventurer's Guilds in Prometheus and the Astral Plane.
Even the Starry Expanse had a similar organization setup for this rather precarious profession.
"Hmm..."
After mulling over the subject for a couple of seconds, Azmodeus ultimately snapped out of his reverie with the sound of something sliding across the counter. Looking at what produced this disturbance, he saw a small metallic square with a needle sticking out from its center.
"This is...?"
