Chapter 8
C8 – Elite Monsters
After reaping some rewards, Qiang Nantie’s confidence swelled, and he boldly ventured deeper into the forest with Huamo by his side.
To put it more accurately, he was in fact following Huamo’s lead. By sticking close to her, he could gain experience points with ease.
Without Huamo’s formidable abilities, Qiang Nantie wouldn’t have dared to penetrate so far into the woods.
He was hoping they wouldn’t encounter any formidable monsters.
Before his ascension to Lord, he had frequently honed his basic swordsmanship and other martial arts. But training is one thing, and real combat is another; he now needed to find monsters that would pose a true challenge in battle.
The low-level creatures were perfect for honing his combat skills.
Qiang Nantie figured that with Huamo’s current attributes and abilities, she could easily handle a Level 10 monster.
Soon, they stumbled upon another creature — a Level 1 wild rabbit.
The rabbit was a meter long, with claws and teeth sharp enough to inflict serious damage if they managed to bite.
Monster: Wild Rabbit
Quality: Ordinary
Level: 1
Special: None
Description: A seemingly carefree and cute little rabbit.
Qiang Nantie held Huamo back, saying, “Let me give it a shot. I’ve got this.”
While he appreciated the security that came with being protected, Qiang Nantie didn’t want to rely on it forever.
“Be careful,” Huamo cautioned, staying close enough to intervene at a moment’s notice should Qiang Nantie find himself in peril.
These wild rabbits were far from the cute critters one might imagine; they were oversized and menacing.
Armed with Huamo’s beginner sword, Qiang Nantie charged at the wild rabbit.
With a powerful leap, he landed on the ground and lunged at the rabbit with his sword.
The rabbit didn’t stand a chance; it was slain before it could even react.
“You have killed a Level 1 wild rabbit. The system awards you 2 spirit coins,” the notification announced.
Qiang Nantie was astounded by his own speed and strength, which had never been so impressive before.
His attributes had been significantly boosted by the Rainbow Lord Space. Although he was no match for Huamo, he was undoubtedly the strongest among his peers, the Lords. After all, the maximum attribute for a Lord of his level was typically capped at 1 point.
Now, his strength and physique had both reached 1.5, his agility was at 3 points, and his Mental Strength had soared to an impressive 6 points.
This was his attribute at Level 0. If anyone else found out, they would be utterly astounded.
Monsters killed in the wild could be collected for food and wouldn’t respawn. But if a monster perished within the territory, it would eventually respawn after some time.
Following the rabbit’s demise, they pressed on with their exploration.
His Rainbow Lord Space featured a movable area, essentially a spatial storage. Currently, the storage was a mere ten square meters and required spirit coins for expansion.
The local monsters were sly, adept at using the terrain to conceal themselves. It wasn’t long before Huamo and Qiang Nantie were ambushed by a Black Scaled Snake once again.
These monsters were so low-level that they were swiftly dispatched.
Beyond the Black Scaled Snake and wild rabbits, they stumbled upon several other Level 1 creatures.
These low-level foes were no challenge for Qiang Nantie. Huamo didn’t even need to intervene; Qiang Nantie could single-handedly dispatch them.
His real-world combat skills were improving at a rapid pace.
His attributes were solid; it was only real combat experience he was lacking.
With Huamo at his side, his safety was well-assured, and he needed to level up quickly.
As his battle experience grew, Qiang Nantie noticed a significant enhancement in his perceptiveness.
Their only disappointment was the absence of equipment in the wooden chests; the drop rate for gear was disappointingly low.
Huamo was the one who usually opened the chests, as Qiang Nantie often found only a single spirit coin when he tried. Consequently, he stopped trying to open them.
The chests were left to the fortunate Huamo. She never disappointed, with each chest she opened almost always brimming with Soul Coins.
Later, Qiang Nantie found a spot and offered some food to Huamo, inviting her to “Give it a try.”
Curiously, Huamo inquired, “What’s this?”
“Bread,” he explained. “If you enjoy it, I’ll bring you more in the future.”
As Qiang Nantie responded, he showed Huamo how to unwrap it.
“The flavor of this bread is quite unique.”
Huamo ate her bread with an elegance that was a sight to behold, taking delicate bites.
Qiang Nantie watched her intently, as if she were a work of art. She was breathtakingly beautiful!
A blush crept across Huamo’s cheeks, her cuteness overwhelming. Qiang Nantie longed to embrace her, yet he refrained.
Despite her shyness, no one could guess how resolute Huamo was in slaying monsters.
He currently possessed 98 Soul Coins and 172 Spirit Coins, but still lacked any equipment.
Even with Huamo’s luck, acquiring gear from defeating low-level monsters proved challenging.
He was just two Soul Coins shy of a hundred.
Qiang Nantie and Huamo ventured to a new location, where they spotted a towering monster in the distance. Upon closer inspection, it was a Level 5 Worgen.
“A Level 5 Elite monster!”
“Monster: Worgen”
“Quality: Elite”
“Level: Level 5”
“Special: Low-level Strength Enhancement”
“Introduction: The Worgen, lurking in the mists, prefers to rend its prey with sharp claws. Beware its lethal bite and formidable strength.”
Qiang Nantie’s gaze shifted from the Worgen to a treasure chest. “Is that a Bronze Treasure Chest?” he exclaimed in astonishment.
Doubtful of his ability to take on a Level 5 Elite monster, Qiang Nantie turned to Huamo.
“Huamo, can you handle it?”
“Don’t worry. Leave it to me.”
Taking the Beginner Sword from Qiang Nantie, Huamo closed in on the werewolf with a series of swift leaps.
Her grace was unmatched, her silhouette ethereal like a celestial being.
The Worgen fell to Huamo’s blade instantly, unable to mount any defense.
“Huamo has slain a Level 5 Elite monster, the Werewolf. You’ve earned an extra reward of 10 Soul Coins.”
“We’ve been awarded a full 10 Soul Coins this time!” Qiang Nantie marveled. Defeating a high-level monster certainly yielded greater rewards. With Huamo’s victory over the Level 5 Elite monster, he gained 10 Soul Coins, a far more efficient outcome than their usual low-level monster hunts.
Naturally, this was all thanks to Huamo’s formidable strength.
With this, his Soul Coin tally had hit 108, more than enough for a level-up.
Qiang Nantie didn’t think that using 100 Soul Coins for his own upgrade would make much of a difference.
He hastily accessed Huamo’s attribute list to initiate her upgrade.
“100 Soul Coins deducted. Huamo is now upgraded to Level 1.”
Qiang Nantie eagerly reviewed Huamo’s attributes.
