Chapter 84: I Just Massacred Two Kingdoms...
Harry was pleasantly surprised when he saw his castle. It was upgraded heavily. It was grand when he was in Lyria, but now it was majestic. Literally majestic. It was double the size of normal castles!
He entered the castle along with the soldiers and proceeded to the throne room. They were about to enter it when the two soldiers guarding the throne room's doors stopped them.
He seemed to recognize one of the soldiers with Harry as he whispered furiously, "Tracee! What are you and your friends doing? Her highness is in an important meeting with all the department heads, discussing the next steps to take after changing the currency into paper!"
Harry smiled and said with pleasant surprise, "Oh, they already proceeded to that step?"
He had given some instructions and steps for the development of the kingdom when Harry was gone to Aoi before going.
He had mentioned and explained about paper currency and why it was important to change to it. He expected Aoi to take three to four months before she reached that part though.
So, he was surprised that they had already reached that step and were discussing about the next steps even though it had only been near two months since he had left.
The guards looked at him indignantly and asked, "Tracee! You know that you can't bring outsiders to the castle, right?"
Tracee sweated buckets at the guard's behavior. She felt like screaming at him, telling him to mind his behavior in front of the king. The guard was a good friend of hers and she didn't want him to die because he misspoke.
She laughed awkwardly and said, "Your Majesty, please don't mind his atrocious behaviour. He's just like that sometimes."
The guard didn't understand what she was speaking about until a light bulb suddenly lit in his head. The young hooded man in front of him was the king?!
He immediately went pale and said while shivering, "Your Majesty, I'm really sorry! I didn't recognize you. I'm extremely sorry!"
Harry chuckled and said, "It's okay. Can I go in now?"
The guards nodded furiously and immediately opened the doors for them to go in. Harry entered and felt delighted seeing his fiancee again.
Even though it had only been two months, he had missed her greatly. She saw him and even though his face was partially covered, immediately recognized him.
She screamed out of delight, "Harry! You're back so soon!"
All the department heads were startled at this and immediately stopped talking. They immediately felt pumped up when they heard the name, 'Harry.' After all, their queen would only call one person Harry so affectionately, and that was their king.
Even before Aoi could get up, all the department heads literally sprinted to him.
If any outsider was watching this scene without knowing about what was happening or the specifics, he would have thought that the department heads had seen their mortal enemy and were rushing to kill him.
Even Harry himself felt a bit scared at how desperate the department heads were when they were rushing to him.
As soon as Robinson reached him, he literally grabbed his legs and started wailing like he had found his savior. "Your Majesty! The queen! She's so ruthless! She massacred two kingdoms! Even the children were not spared!"
Harry looked at Robinson with shock. He tried his level best to hold back his laughter at the funny sight of a veteran soldier crying like a baby who was treated in an unjust manner.
He said in a coaxing manner, "Robinson, please leave my legs first, and then tell me what happend."
Robinson sniffled and left his legs. He then said in a low tone, "Your Majesty! Her highness is an absolute monster! I thought you were ruthless! But she, she's an absolute-"
He was about to continue when he heard a sharp feminine voice ring beside his ear. "Robinson, don't you know that slandering the royal family can permit the execution of you and there generations of your family?"
This made Robinson shiver and nearly piss his pants as he said, "No no, Your Highness, I was just telling His Majesty about all your great deeds!"
Aoi giggled and said, "Harry, don't mind him. I had to massacre the two kingdoms as they were planning to conduct a revolt."
Harry nodded to show his approval for her action before asking, "But why kill the children too?"
Aoi smiled and said, "Because they might take revenge in the future. After all, most of the commoners were forced into the army, and thus we had to kill them all when they tried to defend the kingdoms. We couldn't let their children to grow up and then take revenge , could we?"
Harry smiled and then ruffled her hair while saying, "What you did was right, but I did not expect a kind hearted girl like you to take such a decision."
Aoi smiled guiltily as she said, "Frankly speaking, that was not a decision that I wanted to make, or ever thought I will have to make. But, you entrusted me with the duty to take care of this kingdom, and I couldn't show hesitation in doing something beneficial for the kingdom, even though it may seem heartless."
All the department heads who heard this felt touched. They all swallowed their complaints. It's true, they had to work day and night without rest, it's true, they didn't see their family from two months as they literally lived in the castle, working, sleeping, waking up, working.
But, Her Highness too worked with them without rest, didn't she? They were doing this all for the wellbeing of the kingdom, weren't they?
Robinson felt touched too, and felt that it had been hard on Her Highness to take those decisions too, just like him. But, at the end of the day, they were decisons that they had to take.
["I'm speechless... Just what happened these two months?!", asked the editor while facepalming.]
