Chapter 24: He MAY Be A Devil.
Chapter 24: He MAY Be A Devil.
Catherine was overwhelmed by the sudden influx of experiences and memories into her head. She felt dazed as she learned about terms that she had never heard before.
The experiences felt familiar, like she had known about them all her life and had personally used them multiple times, and yet they felt unfamiliar, like they were something that she was hearing for the first time.
It was an extremely peculiar feeling.
Looking at her dazed expression, John smiled softly and said in a soothing manner, "Don't think about the experiences you have recieved too much."
John was telling this to Catherine based on personal experience. He had spend the whole last night wondering about just where those terms came from.
He had finally came to the conclusion that they definitely did not belong to this world. He could not even imagine some of the knowledge he had received in his wildest dreams before, like those metal pipes that poured water in an extremely... weird manner, and the large carriage which was used for farming.
He was extremely sure that they did not exist in this world.
Catherine nodded lightly, indicating that she wouldn't think about it too much, but she was deep in thought about them right now anyway.
But, what she wanted to figure out was just how the king had given them the knowledge. She couldn't bother less about all the strange terms and machines.
She thought about it for a bit and came to a conclusion. The powers of the king were most likely a devil's. The king must have sold his soul to the devil to survive.
After all, the experience she had before receiving this knowledge was not 'ancestorly'.
She did not have a soothing sensation spread all over her body, or feel a divine feeling of any sort.
What she faced was something terrifying and scary, something that would probably haunt her for years to come.
Maybe to others, what she experienced would just be like how people who watched a horror film would feel. A day or two of slight fear and then everything goes back to normal.
But to her, what she experienced was something much more. It was like every single thing that she knew and did not know she was not afraid of was made into one single thing and used to scare her.
Well, at the same time, a small voice in her voice was arguing that nothing could be gained easily. Maybe it was just a test of the ancestors to see if she deserves the knowledge?
That seems likely too.
'Agh!', she groaned. All this thinking made her head ache.
The man who had accompanied both Catherine and John looked at Catherine with worry while clutching his head.
He was half scared to death when the king had stabbed Catherine in the neck. He was going to pounce at Harry but he was stopped by John.
He was restrained by John till Catherine suddenly screamed.
He was so shocked by that, that he jumped back and hit his head on the wall behind him. If not for the fact that John was holding him due to which the force of his jump reduced drastically, he would have definitely injured himself very bad.
But, even though he was not injured badly, his head still pained. So he clutched at his head in an attempt to numb the pain.
Catherine looked at the man who was clutching his head with confusion. She asked slowly, "Why are you clutching your head? I'm the one who recieved the knowledge and should have a headache or whatever side effect that's associated with it, not you."
