Chapter 56: The Dragon, Drake
"What is it Belinda? Shouldn't you be heading over to the main g to gather the troops?" Lancelot asked, walking outside the castle with Belinda following beside him.
"No rush, I'll do that once I'm done talking to you." Belinda uttered.
"I'm not in the mood for your riddles, if you seriously have nothing to say th I suggest you-"
"Let us kill the Traveler." Belinda blurted out.
This caused Lancelot to halt, stopping midway as people walked past him.
Belinda, carrying no emotions on her face stopped also, and looked at him.
"What did you say?" Lancelot tried to confirm.
"I'll get straight to the point. It's obvious you don't like him, I don't like him either. The longer he stays, the longer it will take for her highness to see how much of a fraud this guy is." Belinda spoke.
Lancelot was somewhat speechless, he never expected someone else in the castle to also feel that much hatred for the Traveler as he does.
"Y…you really mean this?" Lancelot asked, his eyes wided in disbelief.
"With every muscle in my body. With him gone, we can go back to how things were. Our king will return to her prime."
Lancelot looked a, although people were walking, it didn't seem like anyone was listing to what they were saying.
He leaned forward, "Let's say we succeed in killing the Traveler, Lady Merlin will undoubtedly find out how, a death has never crossed her eyes".
"I know, so we'll frame him for something that justifies killing him." Belinda uttered, but not once did a single emotion show on her face.
"Y…you've really thought this through. What makes you come to me for it?" Lancelot sighed.
"Simple, you are the only one who hates him as much as I do, the others are already getting blinded by his cheap tricks.Typical; they've gone soft." Belinda replied.
"Haha," laughed Lancelot, "I'll be damned, safe I misunderstood you before Belinda. You're a wise woman."
"I try my best. Well discuss this later, I need to finish with the order I was giv. Just to be clear, this stays betwe us."
"Of course."
And with that, she turned a and left, leaving Lancelot standing in the middle of the crowd.
…..
Artoria and Merlin were walking down the dark stairs that led to the dungeon inside the castle.
This wasn't an ordinary dungeon, this was the home where the famous dragon of Camelot, Drake the Conqueror was resting.
Camelot had always be known to be acquainted with dragons, it just happed to be how their tire kingdom was founded.
But throughout the cturies, the extinction of dragons had be growing at an alarming rate, and so far, only four dragons existed in Camelot.
One of which happed to be the lord of dragons himself, his blood line leading from Pdragon, and tamed by the King of Camelot.
"Isn't Drake currtly in his slumber? I doubt he would answer any question you ask him." Merlin voiced as she followed behind Merlin.
"I'll have to forcefully wake him up, that shouldn't be hard to do." Artoria replied.
"Forcefully wake a dragon? That should be fun to watch, ev my dragon Basil hates it wh I wake him up." Merlin added.
"You can be a pain in the neck, I don't think it has anything to do with your dragon." Artoria took the last step from the stairs and was now standing in the middle of the dark dungeon.
"Hahaha, so harsh." followed Merlin.
The dungeon floor was wide, cone shaped rocks pointed down from the ceiling, and some were at the corners of the wall.
There were about three touches lightning up the places, and at the side, piles of meat and food for the dragon to eat once he had wok up.
And th the final important thing, the dragon himself.
He was sleeping inside a small cave, its neck outside and body inside the darkness. It was a black scaled dragon, big ough to level out most buildings.
Artoria stood in front of the dragon, observing how it was breathing.
She sighed, "Drake, wake up." She uttered.
"Drake!" she called out again.
But still, no response from the sleep dragon.
Artoria th gtly placed the candle she was holding, and th…
Baam!
She landed a slap on the dragon.
Its face shifted to the side just as soon as its eyes oped.
"What the?! Who dares wake up the great-"
Artoria landed yet another slap.
"Oh hey Master, what brings you here?" Drake looked at her.
"Yeah, you can sleep once I'm done, I need your advice on something."
Artoria settled on the g. Merlin who was standing behind her knew better than to butt in wh a master and her dragon were discussing.
"Oh? That's quite the first, you hav't come to me for wisdom in years, has something happed in the capital? I wouldn't know since I've be asleep." Drake uttered, a small yawn leaving its mouth, exposing its huge, sharp, and pointy teeths.
"I wouldn't say something has happed persay. I think it's more of I'm afraid of what's to come." Artoria looked to the g, "My knights have always be loyal to me, it's almost impossible for me to see any of them betray me.
But these days, I can't help but fear what they might do, I may be wrong, but their jealousy for Ha Joon has be growing lately, I'm afraid it might lead to a situation that would force my hands".
"If they are jealous, th let them be jealous." Drake replied.
"No, you don't understand, if this continues-"
"You fear a rebellion, and you are not in the wrong, everyone has fears and insecurities. But regarding this, you need to remember you're a king above all else. There are times wh you know deep down what needs to be done, times like that, feelings should hold no place in your decision."
Drake paused…
"You never knew much of your father, but he had a similar issue once, let me tell you a tale about how you father killed 35 Knights and witches just to win a war against the Dwarfs of the east".
