Chapter 304: Journey
Chapter 304: Journey
Yasmin smiled wryly after seeing Stella's surprised expression.
As expected, her hunch was right and they are looking for Diether Luxford.
"I don't think we should talk about this here"
"Right Let's go to our room instead." Stella replied as she offered her rented room.
"Alright, let's do that."
Yasmin then followed them into their room and started telling her story about Diether.
"So he joined the Sun Fire Knights Wait, he didn't even bother visiting you at least once?!" Stella asked as she was considering Diether's attitude.
"Ahh It's fine. I heard that after being knighted, they have to do several compulsory missions before they could have lighter missions or schedules. He must still be busy by now."
"Ugh Even if that's the case, he should've written you a letter, right?"
"Well, we are not really that close as I just accompanied him in his training and other stuff."
Yasmin explained as she defended her friend. She then asked questions about Stella and their Kendo.
Lyrei was just listening to them all this time and realized that the two really hit it off together.
"Why don't you join us looking for the guy?" The elf suddenly offered after listening to them for half an hour. She just felt that it would be very interesting to travel together
"Eh? No I can't." Yasmin replied almost instantly before feeling down. She realized the change in the atmosphere so she added.
"Though I would like to travel around, my mother is still sick and I can't leave my father working here alone while taking care of her as well."
"Right I could understand that." Stella nodded and felt pity about it. It would probably be fun to travel around with another female expert. She can tell that Yasmin is a skillful combatant not only because of her status as 2-Star Hunter but because of the aura she exudes.
"Wait Can I look at your mother? I may be able to help if it's just a disease." Lyrei offered after hearing her reason.
"Ahh! That's right Maybe you can help her." Stella exclaimed after being reminded by her companion.
Yasmin saw their enthusiastic expression but she immediately tried to calm them down.
"We have already taken her to the best doctors and apothecaries in the city and they can't cure her. They said that we probably need a mythical grade potion or perhaps, Arcana that is capable of curing this disease"
"But Lyrei is an Elf! Look! She's amazing with this type of concern Why don't we let her check?" Stella didn't give up and persuaded Stella to have her friend diagnose her mother.
After a while, Yasmin gave up and allowed them to check her parents.
Of course, they have to ask their father first who is currently cooking for the guests
As soon as she got permission, they quickly went to the back of the inn where they are residing.
There, they saw Yasmin's mother who doesn't look to be sick and appears to be sleeping soundly on the bed.
Stella and Lyrei expected that Jazz, Yasmin's mother, should be quite skinny and looking weakened.
"Do you know the name of the disease?" Stella asked after seeing the middle-aged lady
"Yes, the Apothecarists said that this is most likely a Fairy Rot that she got from one of the Hunters that we served here in the inn. On the other hand, the doctors in the city said that this is Phantom Eye Disorder. They both have the same symptoms where the patient's mental health will deteriorate and would result in harming themselves."
"I see So you decided to have her fall asleep most of the time. Is that right?" Lyrei nodded after hearing the possible disease that inflicted Yasmin's mother.
"That's correct. It's her request as well. When she wakes up, you can still talk to her normally for a while before the disease will get triggered. She said that she's hearing voices in her head that are causing this"
Yasmin did her best to remain calm as she mentioned the disease of her mothers to these two people.
She wouldn't normally divulge this information to others but she can surprisingly feel the sincerity of the two. Only a few of them were aware of her disease within the village.
In truth, even the young village chief tried helping them but to no avail.
"Hmmm Isn't she cursed?" Lyrei suddenly noticed something after looking at her for a while.
She then asked for permission to remove the lady's blanket
There appears nothing wrong with her skin or body but the Elf seems to be capable of seeing a curse.
"I can suppress this with Elven Magic However, it wouldn't cure her completely unless I make a potion to remove the curse completely"
"What?! Is that true?!" Yasmin and Stella became so happy after hearing the good news.
As expected of a genuine Elf, they truly know stuff that humans weren't capable of.
"Yes Don't worry I sensed that there is a Beacon Tree at the central part of the forest, we just have to take a bottle of its resin and I'll be able to help her!
"The Beacon Tree? I know the way there. I've been there once and the number of Evil Beasts has lessened a lot so I think we can take them easily."
"That's good"
Because of this sudden mission, Stella and Lyrei stayed in Farahn Village for a couple more days to heal Yasmin's mother.
They easily took a bottle of tree resin from the gigantic tree and created a potion in a day. However, the effects of the medicine are not instant and they have to wait for a while to ensure the lady's recovery.
After confirming that Jazz has recovered completely, Yasmin was finally free to join their journey
"Thank you for the both of you! I'm sorry that we couldn't pay you that much" Jazz and her husband bowed and thanked the two mercenaries.
If not for them, Jazz would probably be lying on her bed up until today and no one knows where will she ever be cured.
The most they could give were free lodgings, meals, information, and a small sum of money for their journey.
"It's alright, Aunt Jazz! We also received help from Yasmin and will continue to do so in our journey" Stella said with a smile.
"Right, so you guys will be looking for Diether. Once you found him, tell him to come to visit here sometimes I wonder how that kid grew up by now" Jazz still remembered how Diether was so hardworking with his sword training and misses him like he was her son.
On that same day, the three female Arcanists started their journey to the next town to find more clues about Diether's whereabouts.
