How To Raise Your Regressor

Chapter 159 - Tactical Masterpiece

Chapter 159 - Tactical Masterpiece

"How else do you think I got those books?" I smiled.

I had been using this excuse because even though they knew I was lying, there was virtually no way of proving that I was lying (unless, of course, they invaded my Eckart family villa but that would require them to actually know that I'm an Eckart).

I used it despite its flimsiness, mainly because I find it highly amusing; everyone knows that my story has more plot holes than a cheese block, but they have no way of proving it.

As it turns out, however, that this lie about all my knowledge from being books is much more useful that I initially thought.? It has the potential to give weight to my new story.

Sometimes, my genius, it generates gravity.

Back then, I subconsciously used a lie that would be useful in the far future. Only a genius of the highest calibre can achieve such a feat.

"Huh? No, no, no, that's not possible," Voloha vehemently refused my statement.

"Why not? Don't tell me that you honestly believe that a random 12-year-old child was able to develop an artificial Elixir on his own."

I actually did, but the story I'm going for requires me to say otherwise.

"I believe it because it's the truth," Voloha replied with a passionate tone. "Besides, you're not just a random 12-year-old."

Hmm, why is she so adamant about not believing me? It's almost like she WANTS me to be the creator of Elixir.

This might require more time and effort than I thought.

Sed.

"Unfortunately for you, the truth you so believe in is a delusion."

"That's-"

"Let's say that you're speaking the truth," Azell interrupted her. "Let's say that there is an organisation behind you which has been helping you so far. Then tell me, who are they?"

There was a certain sharpness as well as an uncertainty in Azell's eyes and tone.

Right, he's a Regressor. He knows about the future; he has lived through it, after all.

It's only natural for him to be sceptical about a secret organisation- which has the potential to develop an artificial Elixir- that didn't appear in his last turn.

Finessing this big gurl will be a bit harder, but it's nothing more than a small hurdle. I could cross it in my sleep.

"I unfortunately don't have the authority to reveal that."

Because there is no secret organisation.

"Then why should we believe you?"

Wut?

"I am telling you that I did not discover the method of creating Elixirs and that I'm being helped by an organisation, yet you say that I'm lying. I'm intrigued. Tell me one reason why you cannot believe me, Azell."

I directed my question specifically towards him because he's the one who doubts me the most, and he has actual reasons for doing so, namely the knowledge of his previous turns.

Convincing others would become a lot easier once he believes my lie.

"You're a pathological liar, Samur. It's almost as if you enjoy lying. How can I be sure that this is not another one of your elaborate jokes, just like the one you pulled on Noelle?" His eyes narrowed dangerously.

That's actually… a fair point.

This is just wow.

Also, it would seem he's still holding a grudge over what I did to Noelle. Wow.

Learn to forgive, Azell. This quality goes a long way in living a happy and fulfilling life.

"What happened with Noelle was in no way premeditated," I lied. "She suddenly jumped on the stage so I had to improvise."

"And what about that part about thanking her for volunteering?"

"If I did not do that, the other members might have made the connection that Noelle was closely related to me."

"Right," he scoffed.

He does not believe me? How dare he.

"Anyway, let's put that aside and focus on the current topic."

"If you want us to believe that there is an organisation behind you, show me proof."

"Yeah," Voloha jumped on the bandwagon. "Show us proof that you're telling the truth."

Wow.

"Heh, everything is going just as they predicted," I smirked.

"Hmm?" He raised his eyebrow.

"I was told that you, of all people, won't believe me. That's why I was asked to give you this."

As I said that, I brought out an envelope from my Inventory and handed it to him.

It was a simple white envelope which had the seal of Leviaheim, the city of Gods, though I doubt Azell knows anything about that.

"What's this…?" He frowned as he took the letter from my hands.

"I was told to give this to you in case you asked for proof."

"Hmm," he flipped the envelope to open it (he was holding it upside down). The moment he looked at the seal, his eyes widened to their very extreme, as if they would pop out any moment. "Did… did they really give this to you?" His voice trembled a bit.

My oh fucking my, seems like Azell the motherfucking Regressor recognises the symbol of the Leviaheim.

Now that's amusing.

Hella amusing.

??Told ya,?? the wanker chuckled.

[Yes. Yes, you did.]

"Yup," I nodded while barely suppressing the smile that threatened to appear on my face. "Oh, and you are the only one who can read it."

Heh, making a secret organisation is really proving to be one of my most tactical masterpieces.

"I see," he hurriedly went back to his desk, took out a letter opener and opened the envelope carefully, as if not wanting to ruin the seal of Leviaheim.

"W-what's in the letter?" Voloha asked, perhaps noticing Azell's overly-excited state.

"I have no idea," I shrugged. "I wasn't allowed to read it."

"You're still going on with that story?" She rolled her eyes.

"Hey, it's the truth," I protested.

I can understand Azell's denial because he's the Regressor, but what's with this dodgy Princess? Why is she so adamant about this?

Don't tell me that she's a Regressor as well.

"It's the truth?"

"Of course."

"Alright, then. Let me confirm it."

"And how are you going to do that- ah."

Well, well, well, would you look at her. Ms. Peepy McPeeper here is peeking into my fate.

She has fallen right into my trap.

"!!" She gasped as her eyes widened to their very extreme, just like Azell.

Her eyes trembled and her lips bobbed up and down as cold sweat poured out of her face.

"W-w-w-w-w-w-what, that's…"

"Ah, my apologies. Let me fix that for you," I smiled.

The next moment, I restored my 'fate' to its original state.

Now, Voloha should once again be able to see that I'm an being who stands above fate.

"What the hell," she ever so quietly muttered under her breath.

Get pranked, big gurl.
