Chapter 160: Prison Part (Memory) 49: Little Turtle
Chapter 160
Shen Yue looked at the turtle tile in her hand.
She had lost again.
It was as if she had used up all her luck in the first few rounds that she won. Now she was in such a situation that she could not turn the game around at all.
L·A took Shen Yue's gaming chips. In his heart, he felt bad for No. 14.
Oh no, this is No. 14's money that is being squandered by this nasty woman! How annoying!
L·A deliberately separated No. 14's money and placed it next to himself.
At this moment, he heard Shen Yue say, "One more round."
At this point, L·A was cursing inwardly. It was obvious that Shen Yue did not care at all that it was not her own money.
"No. 14, aren't you going to stop her? If she keeps losing, even her underpants will be gone," said L·A, finally showing his true colors.
What he said about her losing even her underpants was not a threat but the plain truth.
There were many gamblers in Building No.8. Those less skillful than others would often, after losing round after round, think a momentary win was a change in luck. Thus they would stake more, eventually losing everything they had on them.
Not to mention underpants, there were also quite a few who lost their lives in Building No.8.
"I can't control her," came Si Chengyou's cold voice, but his words were not unfeeling.
L·A sneered. His anger towards Shen Yue peaked in an instant. He dropped the business smile he had been wearing and glared at her, his face rather frosty. He lay back in his chair...
And landed right on the floor.
"Damn it! Who took my chair!"
"Chief...Your previous chair was taken away for repairs. This is a spare one."
L·A: ...
So annoying! I was annoyed just now and am even more annoyed now!
L·A scratched his head furiously, got up from the floor and gave the chair a kick with his foot to send it spinning away. He glowered fiercely at Shen Yue.
At this moment, Shen Yue could truly feel L·A's imposing aura as the casino boss.
"I'm tired. This is the last round. Put all your chips on the table. Let's see if Lady Luck is on your side," said L·A viciously as he laughed maliciously. This time he did not emphasize the word "luck" again but used "Lady Luck" instead.
Facing L·A’s condition, Shen Yue was as calm as she had always been. She gave a slight nod and asked softly, "Then if you lose, will you put all your assets on the line too?"
Upon hearing Shen Yue's words, L·A gave a derisive laugh. "All I own is not something a little girl like you can match. Let's just call it quits. If you win, I'll return all the money I won from you and double it!"
Looking at Si Chengyou, the distress was written all over L·A's face. No. 14 baby, wait for me. I won't let you suffer in front of this nasty woman ever again!
L·A had expected Shen Yue to immediately agree to his terms. After all, Shen Yue had behaved no differently from all the other gamblers who walked into Building No.8 since the very beginning. She was a fool whom not even No. 14 could save.
But to L·A’s surprise, Shen Yue did not agree to his demand this time. Instead, she shook her head. "I don't want money. I want you.”
L·A: ?
Hearing Shen Yue's words, the anger on L·A's coarse face lessened significantly in an instant. He looked uncertainly at Shen Yue and asked, "You want me?"
Shen Yue nodded.
L·A shrieked at once, "Hey woman! You already have No. 14 yet you still want me? Have you no shame...Ouch!"
Before L·A could finish, Si Chengyou had walked over swiftly and threw a punch into his stomach.
After being beaten up by Si Chengyou, L·A finally stopped his ridiculous imaginings. He said to Shen Yue, "Alright, if I lose, I'll grant you one request within my ability."
That was already a huge concession, since there were still many things L·A was capable of getting done.
Money makes the world go round.
Shen Yue apparently also understood this. She did not say more, merely nodding once.
But L·A was clearly not done with his terms yet. After Shen Yue nodded, he added, "If you lose, it means losing everything. That includes No. 14 as well."
Looking at Si Chengyou, distress filled L·A's entire face. No. 14 baby, wait for me. I'll never let you suffer before this nasty woman again!
"No," came Shen Yue's immediate reply.
"Okay, let's star...What? No?"
"That's right, no," Shen Yue repeated. "Si Chengyou is not a bargaining chip. He can't be put on the gambling table."
While negotiating with L·A, Shen Yue did not notice the complicated emotion that flashed in Si Chengyou's eyes when she said those words.
For some reason, after hearing what Shen Yue said, L·A suddenly became very reasonable. He accepted Shen Yue's rejection without changing his own terms.
"Last round. Lose quickly - I'm going for dinner," said L·A impatiently.
Shen Yue nodded. "I'll try my best to lose fast."
L·A: ...
After the dealer began dealing the cards, everything seemed normal initially. It was only when Shen Yue was left with 4 cards in hand that she determined which one was the turtle tile.
Based on Si Chengyou's card drawing habit, she placed the turtle tile in the position Si Chengyou would likely pick. And pick that card Si Chengyou did.
But in the next round, the turtle tile landed in L·A's hand.
Shen Yue gently rearranged her cards in hand and concluded firmly that L·A would definitely pick the ghost tile from Si Chengyou's hand.
Through the last few rounds, Shen Yue came to understand clearly that as long as the ghost tile was with her after Si Chengyou had already won, L·A would absolutely not pick the ghost tile from her hand.
In other words, once Si Chengyou was out of that round as the winner and she had the turtle tile, she would definitely lose.
She had to ensure Si Chengyou’s win first.
And ensuring Si Chengyou's win was simple too - she just needed to control Si Chengyou’s cards to restrict L·A.
As long as Si Chengyou had not won yet, she would keep the ghost tile firmly in Si Chengyou’s hand.
Such an operation might seem difficult, but Shen Yue had memorized the habits and all card flows of everyone at the table through the earlier rounds of gambling.
While she could not ascertain exactly which card each person had in hand, she could make a fairly accurate guess of the hand of cards each player had.
By deliberately passing the turtle tile to Si Chengyou over and over, Si Chengyou successfully made his exit from that round after a few more rounds.
By then, the turtle tile was back in Shen Yue's hands. It was taken by Si Chengyou, and then taken yet again by L·A.
Now the ghost tile was with L·A.
Shortly after getting the ghost tile, Si Chengyou quickly assembled a pair in his hand and left the table too.
The players still in the game were the same two again - Shen Yue and L·A.
With two cards in his hands, L·A smiled at Shen Yue and said, "Not bad, some improvement here. The turtle tile is now with me, but the ball is in your court."
There were only two cards in L·A’s hand, which meant he had a fifty percent chance of losing. Yet L·A displayed not an iota of panic.
Shen Yue's gaze fell on the two cards L·A held up in his hand. Suddenly, she tossed her own cards on the table while her other hand deftly pulled out the card hidden among the two cards in L·A's hand which she knew was actually three cards.
It was precisely the diamond 3 that formed a pair with her black spade 3.
Looking at the stunned L·A, Shen Yue said gently, "I won."
