Chapter 38
C38 – Conspiracy
“You dare to strike my face!”
Enraged, the Fiery-eyed Lion’s third eye unleashed a barrage of fireballs in a frenzy!
The fireballs cascaded down like a deluge of molten lava erupting from a volcano!
A torrential downpour of fire rained down upon Lee Tian, threatening to engulf him completely!
Lee Tian’s face tensed with concern.
The fiery onslaught blanketed an area of at least thirty meters around him. No matter how deftly he tried to evade, there was no escaping the catastrophic blaze.
Fireballs pummeled Lee Tian, bombarding his hard shell. They didn’t break through, but the scorching heat threatened to cook him alive!
“Today, I shall savor the taste of roasted ant meat!” bellowed the Fiery-eyed Lion, its voice laced with smug satisfaction.
It was convinced that Lee Tian had no chance of escape.
And it continued to belch flames relentlessly, turning Lee Tian’s surroundings into an inferno!
The Scarface Swordtooth Tiger, witnessing the fierce flames, rejoiced. “Excellent! Let’s see if you can cheat death this time!”
But as it reveled in its delight, a sudden, sharp pain elicited a wretched scream from the beast.
Looking down, it realized the Great Green Snake had seized the moment to strike with another bite!
Green, with its mouth wide open, showcasing its last remaining venomous fang, taunted the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger, “My big brother is invincible; he won’t perish!”
Fuming, the Scarface Swordtooth Tiger exhaled a breath of tiger qi and retorted, “You’re delusional! You’ll be my appetizer, and then it’s on to roasted ants!”
With that, it lunged with its claws at Green.
But Green, slick and agile, evaded the attack.
Lee Tian, ensnared in the fiery maelstrom, felt unbearable agony within. It seemed as though every part of him, aside from his hard shell, was on the verge of dissolving into a puddle!
The sensation was akin to ingesting poison!
Desperate to flee the flames, he found that no matter which direction he sprinted, he couldn’t break free from the fire’s reach.
The Fiery-eyed Lion watched him intently, ready to launch fireballs and expand the sea of fire with his every move. Regardless of his efforts, Lee Tian was trapped, encircled by the relentless blaze.
“Run, little ant, run. Your flesh will taste all the sweeter!” The Fiery-eyed Lion bellowed with pride.
Was he to simply accept his fate and await death?
No way!
Lee Tian surveyed the ground and plunged his Scythe into the earth to gauge its firmness.
The blade slid into the soil with ease, indicating that the ground hadn’t yet been baked hard by the flames. There was still time to dig a hole!
He planned to dig himself a refuge, a place to hide and escape the fiery onslaught.
Without hesitation, he swung the Scythe, clearing the surrounding underbrush to create a protective ring impervious to the encroaching flames.
Next, he furiously hacked at the earth, loosening the soil to excavate it.
He was tapping into human ingenuity to find a way to sidestep the calamity.
Such tactics were not common in the animal kingdom.
The Fiery-eyed Lion watched, perplexed by Lee Tian’s odd sequence of actions, until it realized he was actually digging a pit.
