Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3942 Eternal Twilight Princes

Chapter 3942  Eternal Twilight Princes

The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over the clearing where a dark, twisted tree stood at the heart of a giant forest. Its thick branches seemed to claw at the sky, gnarled roots gripping the earth like a monstrous talon. Against its massive trunk, four figures were bound by windy ropes.

The three princes, dressed in black-and-white robes, bore the same regal features—sharp cheekbones, snow-white hair, and princely ornaments that gleamed even in their captivity. Their royal bearing was unmistakable, yet each wore a different expression.

Then, there was the Imperial Advisor, a black-haired man whose face was lined with years of wisdom, who tried to keep his expression neutral but miserably failed as his eyes flickered with fear. His black-white robe also matched that of the princes in bearing, but it lacked status.

Davis stared at the four of them. The rest were not even in his sight as they seemed to be just servants working under the three princes. He really didn't know what to do with them as he couldn't just kill them and have the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm on his back.

Now that he was too powerful, he was sure no one wanted to have him as their enemy.

The Imperial Advisor's reaction to him was much more vivid than he expected. The Imperial Advisor and the three princes absolutely feared him.

That was the result of killing so many big names and making himself infamous. They wanted to stop him and kill him before it could happen but he was already there. At this point, he was nearly unstoppable and they knew it too, especially the Lower Realm powers.

Davis couldn't be bothered to kill everyone who was out for him. Otherwise, he would have trillions of people on his kill list. That's why he looked at them with an indifferent attitude. As long as they didn't personally harm him or his family, he could care less.

However, these people chased Flamerose and Frostrose.

He thought of killing them, but that would incur the wrath of the Imperial Family in the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm. He would rather they stayed clear of him and vice versa.

However, there was also the fact that the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm didn't participate in the Candidacy. Their inheritors were not seen anywhere. Therefore, Davis imagined that they could also be naturally hostile towards evil forces. He didn't think it was good to make contact with them.

"I don't know, man. Convince me…"

Davis turned to look at the Imperial Advisor and casually said as though they were negotiating for some deal.

The Imperial Advisor was at a loss for words.

What did the Divine Emperor of Death want him to say? That he would take part in evil activities?

"You have time until this flame goes out to convince me why I shouldn't kill you and the three princes."

Davis summoned annihilative heavenly flames on his fingertip and threw them to the side. One couldn't even see how fast the flames were but a small plant lit up in fire. The fire began to spread slowly as Davis controlled the flames, drawing it with his finger.

"I…"

The Imperial Advisor tried to form words, but his mind blanked. He was terrified, panic-stricken, and under pressure. He was not restricted right now other than the windy jade-crimson rope tying them up but knew if he tried to go out or make a strange move, his head would fly, and so would the head of the other three princes he had to take care of.

He was assigned to protect them.

If even one of them got killed, he would be severely punished, but if all three got killed, his head would also fly.

He couldn't see a way out of this if the Divine Emperor of Death was demanding that only one or two of them leave. After all, someone had to take accountability for their actions.

"O' Dark Lord, we are from the Eternal Twilight Imperial Family, the Daynight Family. I'm the eighth prince, Nova Daynight. If you could spare us, we would forever be your pawns." n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Suddenly, the eighth prince opened his mouth and pleaded. He was missing both arms but that didn't stop him from begging for his life, his expression pitiful.

Davis nodded, "Maybe you don't know but I have comprehended Enigmatic Heart Intent. I'll give you a chance again."

"…!"

Nova Daynight shuddered greatly. He lowered his head, his expression full of fright, knowing he had just screwed up as his lie was seen through. He had thought if he could make it back to the capital, everything would be fine.

"Shut up!"

The Imperial Advisor looked angered as he silently berated Nova Daynight. In his opinion, these spoiled princes didn't know who they were dealing with. He quickly turned to look at the menace, finally having the courage to reply as he clenched his teeth.

"Divine Emperor of Death, I'm aware we have offended you. We are willing to make any amends should you release us in one piece- I mean, the damage is already done, but the situation can still be salvaged."

"Oh? Are you saying that you for will enter a deal with a calamity like me?"

"If that is what it takes for us to survive." The Imperial Advisor looked out of breath, "You- You can seal our memories if you don't believe us. Make us your pawns."

Davis stared at the Imperial Advisor as his lips lightly curled.

This one was a pretty honest Advisor who wanted to live.

"Fuck it! I'd rather die than become your pawn, you evil incarnate!"

Suddenly, the thirteenth prince yelled out, his face full of rage after being transformed from fear.

"Silence!" Growled the Imperial Advisor.

"Imperial Advisor Hansen! You dare call yourself an Advisor to the Emperor while you try to collude with a calamity!? You'll be hanged to death in the public along with nine generations of your family!"

"Thirteenth prince, you bastard! Can't you see that I'm trying to save us all, Mote Daynight!?"

"You all… stop it…" whimpered someone, "Why… why did this happen to us?"

All of them turned to look at the fourteenth prince who was cowering like a drenched bird.

"Stop that cowardly whining, Ray. You can't possibly be scared at this moment after all you went through to bring out your potential." The thirteenth prince, Mote Daynight, shot an exasperated look at his brother before returning his gaze to Davis.

"Do what you want. We are doomed, but we won't doom our realm. That goes beyond our own self-interests!"

Mote Daynight looked at Davis, his eyes wide and his hands clenched as he glared defiantly.

Davis could only blink at this man, wondering what kind of courage it took to utter those words. He was simply impressed as the man's voice was full of pride and guts but it was a pity that he wasn't moved.

"Divine Emperor of Death, don't listen to him."

The Imperial Advisor lowered his head once and looked at him pleadingly.

"These youngsters don't know what they're saying. I have heard about your feats and know that you're not an unreasonable person despite what everyone say. If you can show us mercy, I'll do anything for you as long as it doesn't harm the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm or the world."

"Not an unreasonable person?" Davis suddenly couldn't help but chuckle.

"People tend to throw that at me when they're at a disadvantage. I'd prefer they use it when we're at an equal standing. I mean, you wouldn't hesitate to strike me down if I'm weak, right?"

"That's right! If you were weak, I'd squash you like an ant and wipe the evil blood off my shoes! You calamitous bastard!"

The moment those words left the thirteenth prince's mouth, the air around them seemed to freeze. An eerie stillness descended upon the clearing, so thick it was as though even the wind dared not move. The tension crackled like a storm about to break, yet not a single wave of sound followed.

The distant sounds from the forest fell silent, and the distant rustling of leaves ceased as if the forest itself had turned into stone. Not a breath escaped the lips of the others, their faces paling, eyes widening in disbelief.

The eighth prince, Nova Daynight, cast a sharp, sideways glance at his brother, his lips thinning as his calculating mind churned, weighing the reckless words that had just been hurled into the void. He, too, remained quiet, sensing the delicate balance tipping.

The fourteenth prince, Ray Daynight, trembled uncontrollably now, his head dipping lower as if to hide from the eyes of the man they had insulted. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat like a drum in the profound silence.

Even the Imperial Advisor, who had so carefully chosen his words, closed his eyes for a brief moment, his face tightening. His earlier plea now seemed to dangle in the air like a futile whisper. He made no attempt to speak again.

Davis stood unmoving. His gaze lingered on the thirteenth prince, but his expression was unreadable.
