Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 166: The Secret Realm

The two people in the monitoring room stared at the image of the girl riding the Flame Hound, suspended in mid-air, speechless for a long time.

If they hadn't confirmed that this was the real surveillance footage from their store, they would have suspected they were watching a Beast Master battle scene edited for a movie.

Who has ever seen a mid-level pet beast take down two high-level pet beasts consecutively in real life? And those two high-level beasts were no ordinary ones. Not only were they ghost-type beasts, but they also actively attacked humans!

But the most unbelievable part was the Flame Hound…

“Did you see that?” After a while, the man wearing the hat was the first to speak.

“I did.” The younger man murmured.

“Did you see the same thing I saw?” The man with the hat couldn't help but ask, wanting to confirm that his eyes hadn’t deceived him.

“Probably.” The young man replied.

“So, the Flame Hound is not only a fire-type but also has psychic abilities?” The man in the hat was stunned.

“Seems so.” The young man nodded.

The man in the hat was utterly speechless.

Psychic abilities! That’s something else entirely!

If it were just a pure psychic-type pet, it wouldn’t have shocked him so much. But this was a new evolutionary form of the fire-type pet, the Fire Fang Dog!

It not only possessed powerful fire-type attacks but also had the high-class psychic ability, an extremely rare combination. Any pet with these dual attributes would fetch an astronomical price.

And with its majestic appearance and the ability to serve as a mount, soaring through the air, what Beast Master wouldn’t dream of owning one?

Most importantly, a Fire Fang Dog only cost 100,000 Alliance Coins on the market!

“I don’t remember the news ever mentioning that the Flame Hound also had psychic abilities, did it?” The man in the hat turned to the young man beside him.

The younger man, deep in thought while staring at the surveillance footage, didn’t respond immediately.

Seeing the young man ignoring him, the man in the hat frowned, about to say something when his walkie-talkie crackled with static.

After a moment, a somewhat urgent voice came through: “Hello? Can you hear me?”

The man in the hat, suddenly excited, grabbed the walkie-talkie and responded quickly: “Yes! We hear you!”

The person on the other end was initially taken aback but then exclaimed joyfully: “That’s great! Are you two okay in there? The police just arrived at the store, and they’re heading inside now.”

Hanggang City.

Public Security Bureau.

This was Qiao Sang’s fourth time in a police station.

Although one of those times was in Qitang Town, many people never set foot in a police station in their entire lives.

Yet, in just a few months, she’d been there four times. That was something.

For Fang Sisi, however, it was her first time. She clutched her Cotton Bug nervously, looking quite uneasy.

It wasn’t until a police officer brought over two cups of tea with a smile and said, “Qiao Sang, didn’t expect to see you again so soon. Is this your friend? No wonder, beautiful women always hang out together.”

Fang Sisi immediately straightened up and smoothed her hair by her ear.

Several staff members from the store had also come to the station to give their statements.

Qiao Sang was already somewhat famous in the Hanggang City police station, having become a familiar face. Most of the officers recognized her.

Her first time here was to claim a reward for catching a thief on the bus.

Not many people remembered that incident since she was young and stood out mostly because of her appearance and the Fire Fang Dog she was carrying.

The second time, she claimed a reward of five million yuan, and even the police chief came out to greet her.

The media went crazy interviewing her. It hadn’t been that long since then, so it was hard for people to forget.

The third time, she was involved in one of the city’s most troublesome cases, helping to solve the notorious 1 and 2 target issue, saving countless resources and effort.

She also spared the officers many late-night shifts.

As a result, Qiao Sang was treated like a guest of honor by the entire department.

Those who knew she was there for a statement came to greet her warmly, while those who didn’t might have thought she was just visiting.

“When does your school start, Qiao Sang?”

“Is the tea to your liking? You’re young; maybe you’d prefer a soft drink? I can get you one.”

“Are you heading home after your statement? I’m finishing up soon; I can give you a ride.”

“It seems like you’ve gotten even prettier in just a few days.”

“Qiao Sang, what’s up with your hair? It looks a bit off?”

Every time an officer passed by, they would stop to chat with Qiao Sang.

From these conversations, Qiao Sang learned a lot about the Dreamless Doll and the Three-Eyed Phantom Cicada.

It turned out that recently, a rift had opened in the secret realm near Hanggang City, allowing 18 wild pet beasts to escape.

A secret realm is a space dimension different from the real world, similar to an alternate dimension.

Various strange and mysterious worlds exist inside, inhabited by wild extraordinary creatures of different attributes.

Throughout human history, since the discovery of secret realms, their exploration has never ceased.

Though dangerous, secret realms hold abundant resources and rare pet beasts, making them a prime choice for many Beast Masters to enhance their skills.

Secret realms are broadly classified into two categories.

One is the fully explored realms, where humans have mapped out the terrain and species of extraordinary creatures.

These are ranked by danger levels, from D to S, and most Beast Masters prefer them due to the availability of maps and strategy guides.

The other category is unexplored secret realms, which contain many unknown dangers and are far less popular among Beast Masters.

Most secret realm entrances remain open in fixed places at set times.

However, there are rare instances where rifts appear in different locations for short periods. These are called secret realm rifts.

In the past, humans feared invasions by wild extraordinary creatures, but with the development of Beast Master societies, such concerns have faded.

Had the beasts emerging from this rift not been ghost-types, the government would have captured them within a day.

“You’re just unlucky.” A female officer with a ponytail joked as she approached Qiao Sang.

“You happened to enter the ‘Lost Town’ room. If you’d chosen a different one, you probably wouldn’t have encountered the Dreamless Doll and the Three-Eyed Phantom Cicada.”

Qiao Sang paused.

“Why is that?"

“I just found out. After escaping from the rift, the two of them wandered around and overheard someone talking about the ‘Lost Town’ room. They entered because they heard that clearing the room would grant a wish from the legendary pet beast, Mihera.” The female officer explained with a laugh.

“The Dreamless Doll initially planned to follow behind the Flame Hound to clear the room, but when you tried to leave with the Flame Hound, it revealed itself to stop you.”
