Apocalypse: The Hotel She Runs Is the Only Paradise

Chapter 169

“Alright, here you go,” Gu Wanyin handed the bottle of Coke to it.

The little squirrel system wobbled as it held the Coke bottle, needing Gu Wanyin to help twist off the cap.

It clutched the Coke and chugged it down, finishing more than half the bottle in one go.

Only after finishing did it burp and say contentedly, “Delicious!”

Gu Wanyin laughed at its antics and asked, “What else do you want to eat or drink? Don’t forget, I’m the boss, and I can take whatever food and drinks I want from the hotel.”

“Let’s have hot pot today!” The system hopped onto Gu Wanyin’s shoulder with the half-full Coke bottle in its paws. “I remember my doctor saying before that hot pot is the best!”

“Sure thing.”

Gu Wanyin was also hungry, so she had Old Six guard the front desk and called Bai Shuwen to join her for hot pot in the restaurant.

“Isn’t that the little squirrel we met in the horror world?” Bai Shuwen exclaimed upon seeing the system. “We haven’t seen it since we returned from the horror world. I thought it didn’t make it out.”

The system, with one paw on the Coke bottle and the other on its hip, said, “I’m so awesome, how could I not come back?”

Bai Shuwen was startled.

After all, in the horror world, the system only spoke to Gu Wanyin, and only they could hear it.

This was the first time Bai Shuwen had heard the system speak.

However, since Old Six was already there, a talking garlic, a talking squirrel wasn’t so hard to accept.

So Bai Shuwen quickly adapted to the idea of a talking squirrel and didn’t ask too many questions.

She had known Gu Wanyin for so long and never pried into things unnecessarily.

After all, life was so pleasant now; why bother knowing so much?

Entering the restaurant, Gu Wanyin saw many unfamiliar faces already seated.

They were likely soldiers under the Duke’s command.

A man sat alone at a table, and judging by his demeanor, he was probably the Duke.

He was currently slurping a bowl of spicy potato noodles with a serious expression.

Gu Wanyin, Bai Shuwen, and the system were discussing what dishes to choose when someone behind them said, “Boss.”

She turned to see Eugene.

“What’s the matter?” Gu Wanyin asked.

“His Grace, the Duke, would like to speak with you. He has some questions for you.”

Gu Wanyin smiled and said, “If he has questions for me, he can come to me, and I’ll answer them. I’m not going to seek him out.”

With that, she ignored Eugene and continued selecting dishes.

Gu Wanyin didn’t want to look down on others just because she had the system, but since she had the system, why should she let others look down on her?

Others always came to her when they needed something.

Why should the Duke make her go to him?

Even if it wasn’t the end of the world, in Gu Wanyin’s eyes, the Duke was no different from anyone else.

Eugene was left with a snubbed nose, somewhat shocked by Gu Wanyin’s response.

That was Duke Bobby Jeans! Back in the day, he even had the privilege to attend the king’s banquets.

Even if this boss didn’t know the Duke’s name, knowing his title as a Duke, she shouldn’t be so…

But then again, she managed to own such a grand castle and dared to open it for business; she must have some skills.

Eugene just didn’t know if the Duke would be angry.

Eugene returned to Bobby’s side, respectfully saying, “Your Grace, the boss said that if you have any questions, please… you should go to her.”

Bobby had just finished slurping his potato noodles, filling his stomach, and was in a good mood.

He stroked the sword at his waist, chuckled, and said, “This boss must be quite formidable. Just look at the talking garlic and the squirrel on her shoulder. And she has so many strange items here; I’ve traveled many places and never seen such things.”

Eugene hesitated and said, “Your Grace, I heard from other guests here today that this is a hotel bestowed by the gods, and that the boss is… an angel.”

Bobby was taken aback, then his expression turned thoughtful.

“Do gods and angels really exist? If she truly is an angel, then I can’t possibly take over this castle, can I?”

Eugene hastily said, “Your Grace, I think we should not act rashly. After all, the castle belongs to her. While I believe she should open the castle to more people without charging, if we were to take it by force, wouldn’t that be wrong?”

“As you said, she shouldn’t charge people to stay here. If this castle were mine, I would let survivors stay for free and build up human forces to fight against the vampires.”

Eugene wanted to say more, but Bobby cut him off, “Let’s not rush. We can’t act hastily. My soldiers need rest, so let’s observe for a few days first.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

Old Six was sitting at the front desk.

As a garlic, it didn’t need to eat, but it was greedy, so it grabbed a pack of fries.

After munching them down, it looked at the packaging—

Garlic-flavored.

Old Six’s eyes widened.

Goodness, garlic eating garlic-flavored fries!

Old Six opened its mouth, then heard a scream.

It thought something was off—it hadn’t even screamed yet, so why was someone else screaming?

Then it saw the system running towards it, tongue out, panting.

“Hey! What’s wrong with you?” Old Six asked, bewildered.

The system ignored it, still panting and running around the lobby.

“Don’t run!” Gu Wanyin chased after it, “You’re spicy, running won’t help! Come back here!”

The system seemed to be too spicy to think straight, ignoring her and continuing to run around the lobby, knocking over a vase.

Luckily, the vases here couldn’t break.

“Hahaha…” Old Six laughed mercilessly at the system, “So you got spicy! Can’t handle spice, what a failure!”

Before it finished, the system glared fiercely at it.

“Why are you glaring at me? It’s true…”

Before it could finish, the system pounced.

A squirrel and a garlic wrestling together.

The scene was downright bizarre.

Gu Wanyin was torn between laughter and tears: “Why are you two fighting? Stop it!”

Fortunately, both were small.

So Gu Wanyin didn’t have much trouble separating them.

She held one in each hand and sternly lectured them, “Fighting is not allowed in the hotel, don’t you know that? If you set a bad example for the guests, what will people think?”

“Sis, I’m sorry,” Old Six quickly apologized.

The system mumbled something, but Gu Wanyin didn’t catch it.

“What did you say?”
