Beads of sweat trickled down Zhao Yao’s back as he listened to Baozi’s explanation. His eyes drifted towards the unconscious Gaia before mumbling, “Just bring him out first, send him here once he wakes up ... hmph ... as for the next cat ... hmph, Baozi since you are already here, just stay.”

Zhao Yao made eye contact with Baozi and mustered his most amiable smile before asking, “Baozi, how do you find your life here? Are you used to it yet?”

Behind Baozi, Sausage was dragging Gaia out of the container as if he were a dead corpse. Sausage bit Gaia by the back of his neck as he struggled to drag him out. Along the way, Gaia’s head even smashed against the edge of the door, leaving a giant bruise.

Zhao Yao bit his lower lip and stared earnestly into Baozi’s eyes, “Do not be nervous. Don’t be afraid to say anything that comes to your mind. This is a democratic place.”

Baozi was a maroon Dragon Li. His entire body was spread across the floor, with his tail wagging from left to right. He cocked his head sideways and replied, “Everything’s great!”

“Hmph, in that case, do you have any suggestions to improve this place. For example, you guys might need more potable water or simply just more meat. You can raise any suggestions here.”

“No ... I do not have any requests.” Baozi immediately shot out his response with a shook of his head. However, based on Zhao Yao’s years of experience interacting with cats, he knew that Baozi was hiding something from him.

“After interacting with the two of them, none of them are willing to tell me the truth.” This got on Zhao Yao’s nerves. Hence, he went forward and cradled Baozi in his arms. Zhao Yao raked his finger through Baozi’s fur before whispering into his ears, “You do not have to be afraid.”

Baozi had spent the bulk of his life roaming the streets as a stray cat. Naturally, he was rather reluctant to be cradled in Zhao Yao’s arms initially. However, the soothing sensation which permeated through his body stemming from Celestial Beats and Zhao Yao’s finger made him shut his eyes in pleasure. If this was heaven, he would never want to leave.

Zhao Yao continued with his questioning, “Relax. This place is specially created as a haven for cats. Our number one priority is for cats to enjoy their time here. If you need anything, feel free to tell it to me. We will do whatever we can to satisfy your needs.”

The muscles in Baozi’s face started twitching as his body gave a sudden shudder. His lips were trembling before he finally spoke, “Do you have that ... that ...”

“Yes?” Zhao Yao pressed his ear against Baozi’s mouth, “What is it?”

Baozi’s face was flushed with embarrassment as he whispered, “Those kinds ... kinds of films where male and female cats are engaged in a physical activity.”

Zhao Yao instantly loosened his grip the moment he managed to lure the answer out of him. Baozi fell to the ground with a loud thud. Zhao Yao ran his finger through his hair and muttered, “Alright, alright. I will give it you tomorrow morning.”

Baozi jumped to his feet and cocked his head towards Zhao Yao with a radiant smile, “I will be waiting for you!”

...

After hours of interrogation, Zhao Yao has finally returned to his comfortable bed as his fingers ran across the mousepad, in search of the cat film.

Throughout the hours of interrogation and questioning, Baozi was the only one who succumbed to his probing and revealed what he actually craved for. The remaining cats’ mouths were sealed shut.

However, Zhao Yao’s laborious search was to no avail. All he managed to find were videos of cats acting cute. None of them were cat action films.

“Who is even interested in this?” Left with no choice, Zhao Yao instantly created a thread on the forum, “Anyone has any access to cat films? It should include love, action, and cats.”

He returned to the thread after 10 minutes only to see it removed by the moderator.

“D*mn it, why did they have to remove my thread?” With his brows tightly knitted together, Zhao Yao went on Baidu to commence his treasure hunt, “I don’t believe that there are no such films on the internet.”

Zhao Yao struck gold instantly. After just a few minutes, he had already found a trove of cat videos.

Zhao Yao eyes widened with fear as he read the title on the cover page, “The Japanese even bothered creating films specially made for cats. They are truly one of a kind.”

Zhao Yao kept to his words and snuck a thumb drive into Baozi’s paw the second day. Baozi’s breathing quickened and he could hardly hold in the excitement. He immediately ran towards his computer terminal.

The corner of Zhao Yao’s lips curled up upon seeing another satisfied cat customer. However, the mission remained unfinished.

“What the hell is going on?” Zhao Yao stroked his chin thoughtfully and talked to himself, “Are the cats unwilling to share certain private information with me because I am a human? How about King George? Will they divulge their secrets?”

Hence, Zhao Yao brought Matcha into the belly for him to investigate and understand the situation within it.

Matcha’s face crumbled the moment he heard Zhao Yao’s troublesome request, “Huh? You want me to go into that stupid belly and find out how the country bumpkins are surviving inside?”

Matcha remained lying comfortably on his massage throne. He slid Zhao Yao a condescending glare and grumbled, “What’s the point of investigating this bunch of fools? Having food to eat and beverages to drink should be more than enough for them.”

Zhao Yao kept his cool and ran his fingers through the snow-white fur on his belly, “Alright, it’s just gonna be a few hours. I’ll reward you with your favorite canned food when you return. Deal?”

“You do not have to touch me when you speak to me.” Matcha returned Zhao Yao’s kindness with another condescending glare. He lifted Zhao Yao’s palm off his belly and threw it away before lamenting, “You are trying to bribe me with a single canned food? Are you treating me like those idiotic ordinary domestic cats? I am a supercat. The strongest supercat to ever step foot on Earth. I am the savior of my kind.”

Zhao Yao’s temple throbbed with rage as he gritted his teeth and replied, “So what do you prefer then?”

Matcha raised his eyebrows and replied nonchalantly, “Hmph, Rice Cake seems to be having a lot of fun playing PUBG. Zhao Yao, just buy me a computer with that game installed inside.”

“Stupid cat, he has really gone overboard this time around.” Zhao Yao sent a tight slap across Matcha’s face and roared, “You have grown rather cocky these days! I’m just asking you for a tiny help and you actually demanded such crazy requests for it?

Are you even interested in succeeding my empire?”

Zhao Yao did not bother waiting for Matcha’s reply. He opened his mouth and activated Dust Ball’s ability before shouting, “Get in now! I’ll give you a canned food at the end of it.”

Matcha could feel the vicious aura sweeping through the apartment. With his entire body shaking like a leaf, he made his way inside the belly.

“You could have just told me nicely. Why do you have to be so fierce?” Matcha muttered with his butt swinging left to right.

Matcha landed into the belly with a deafening thud. He was greeted by a scene of Caesar squatting in the litter box with his face all scrunched together. His thick and furry tail was standing on end as his body froze.

Caesar had never expected to meet Matcha under such circumstances and even shat on his legs.

However, he had no time to be bothered by this insignificant problem. He immediately dashed out of his litter box and stopped right before Matcha, “King George, why did you grace us with your presence today?”

“Do not come near me, you smell like shit.” Matcha gave a dismissive wave of his paws, signaling Caesar to take a few steps back. Zhao Yao’s voice rang in his head and said, “Remember to have a good attitude. Ask them about their needs. Show your care and concern for your cats.”

Matcha could not be bothered by this silly request but still complied with it for fear of Zhao Yao’s rage. He looked at Caesar and asked nonchalantly, “I just came here for a look. So how’s life inside the Village of Dreams? Do you have any requests?”

“My entire family is having a great time here. The only thing bothering me is the bald patch at the back of my head. You do understand that long-furred cats like us take a far longer time to grow out our fur. King George, do you have any tricks to make my fur grown faster?”

Matcha pranced behind Caesar and what he saw made Matcha do a double take. Even though the fur had already started to grow, the disparity in length was simply too obvious. He had never seen a Ragdoll with such an ugly bald patch in his life.

However, Matcha pretended it was nothing serious as he assured Caesar, “It’s just a tiny patch.” Suddenly, his eyes gleamed with excitement as he proclaimed, “I have a solution!”

Matcha began shouting at Zhao Yao telepathically, “Zhao Yao, let me out for five minutes.”

Five minutes later, Matcha had returned with a green hat dangling from his mouth.

“This is the first hat I’ve ever worn in my life. Now I’m entrusting it into your hands. I also suffered from a bald patch in the past. This hat was my life savior.”
