Chapter 237 - Scale Snake
Ban and Tria were now atop the branch of a huge tree. They positioned themselves in a way that it was not very far from the eggs below and that they would not be seen easily by the Scale Snakes if there were any.
After tasting the Scale Snake's Egg, Ban was not able to get over it so he asked the System about its knowledge. This includes the appearance of the Egg, the Scale Snakes, and of course, different ways to cook them which made his mouth water.
The Scale Snakes are an Elite Grade Beast that has the strength of X-Mortal to F-Apprentice Rank. It was also because of this that Boss Mario mocked him for even thinking about getting them himself.
One needs to be at the E-Elite Rank before they could gain a chance to kill the Elite Grade F-Apprentice Scale Snakes. And mind you, it was only a chance, it was not even guaranteed that they could kill them yet. If you really want to kill them that badly, then one should bring at least three or four Elite Rank Summoners just to be saafe.
Boss Mario knew that Ban had just awakened, so it was only natural that he would mock him for such thoughts.
The Unknown Egg consumes the meat of the Beast that he killed. He was already planning to set aside one for tonight so that he could at least taste the fruit of his labour. However, with the Egg's appearance, there was no longer any need for that. He can settle with the eggs for now.
Ban took out the information that he got from Mr. Nian as he recalled that it did not mention any Scale Snakes. That was also the reason why he did not set his eyes on this particular habitat, he thought that there would no longer be any Scale Snake present here. However, the fact that there was an egg clearly signifies that such assumptions were wrong.
He suddenly became wary as there's a chance that the Scale Snake present here was a new or an immigrant.
The Shwamp, which was a small swamp surrounded by dead grass, was the perfect habitat and breeding ground for them, so it would only be natural that some Scale Snakes would come here to breed even if their predecessors were already killed in this area.
And according to the System and the Book of Techniques, such immigrants that moved here to breed would always contain a father and a mother. The two of them are Elite Grade and already at the F-Apprentice Rank, the perfect rank to mate.
Ban thought that obtaining the delicious Scale Snake Eggs might not be that easy.
He thought that it would be an easy harvest as he only spotted the bluish eggs from atop. He did not see any Scale Snakes around so he assumed that they left the nest first to hunt. However, if they were really an immigrant Scale Snakes, then there's a high chance that one of them stayed to protect their eggs. The knowledge provided by the System and the Book of Techniques stated that the Scale Snake were good at sneak attacks and ambush.
Thinking about it, Ban did not get hasty as he observed the surroundings first. Even after seeing that it was already safe, Ban still did not dare to let down his guard.
He rode Tria again and ordered her to circle around the area. He wanted to make sure that it was safe first before taking action. He ordered Tria to go slowly and to not make any noise as possible to avoid alerting the Scale Snake if there was any.
Fortunately, Tria was able to do it properly. Worthy of being a race that prided themselves for their wings and speed indeed.
After circling for two times from the mini swamp, Ban finally heaves a sigh of relief.
'Fortunately I did not act recklessly, or else I might have really ended up on the stomach of the Scale Snake…'
And just like what he assumed, there was really a Scale Snake hiding not far away from the eggs. It could not be seen easily as it camouflaged with the surroundings very well.
The Shwamp, or the mini swamp has a diameter of almost 30 meters. Although its shape was not a perfect circle, it's shape could still be considered as that of a circle.
At the edges of this circle were dried grass that also acted as a barricade from wet soil entering the waters at the center of this mini swamp, or should we say, a large pond?
Anyways, at the center of this mini swamp was another patch of dried grasses, stacked together to form a nest that was around 4 meters in diameter. At the center of this nest were the bluish Scale Snake Eggs, there four of them in total, and each of them were bigger than Ban's head.
And beneath this nest, a Scale Snake was actually hiding. Waiting for any greedy fellow that wanted to taste its eggs. It was lying there in ambush, with only its nose being exposed above the green and muddy water of the mini swamp.
If Ban did not circle around, he would surely not notice this fellow that was hiding in ambush. The green and muddy water of the mini swamp also helped it on its stealth.
And if it was not for the fact that the water on that particular area rippled for a moment, Ban would surely not suspect that there was actually a snake hidden beneath it.
And just to be sure, Ban even circled around a second time to check if he missed something. It would be quite problematic if there's another one lying in ambush.
After confirming that it was the only Scale Snake around, Ban secretly heaves a sigh of relief.
He then started his preparation as he reviewed what he learned earlier to apply it to this battle. Unlike before, he would let Tria participate in the battle this time.
However, for the time being, he ordered her to stay hidden while waiting for the right opportunity.
As for himself, he directly jumped towards the edge of the mini swamp with a huge boom.
