Chapter 55- Joining the council
Chapter 55- Joining the council
It was officially the first day at school and Alatia was moving toward the academic building so she could meet the Student Council in an appropriate manner today.
However, her mind was not currently occupied with the talk that she would have with the Council President, rather it was fixated on the people she passed by.
Naturally, she doesn't care about those people who give her varying looks from admiration to awe. However, today she wasn't the focus of the passerby's attention.
'Why does he have to look so good....' Alatia grumbled as she glanced behind her and found her breath choking in her throat.
Kyle was looking majestic today.
With his full-sleeved white shirt and a black waistcoat adorning his upper body, he looked quite charming. His lean physique and strong arms were looking profoundly defined in the tailor-made uniform. The long black pants that ended at his ankles accentuated his long and slim legs that moved in elegant strides. The slick black shoes just added extra points to his overall attire. His hair was combed neatly unlike how he appeared yesterday in the kitchen, and his strict expression made him look nothing but excessively hot.
His whole presence demanded attention even though Kyle never asked for it. And among those people, Alatia was also one who couldn't resist his charm.
"I suggest you look forward, my lady. " Hearing his words and seeing that smile that he was barely resisting, Alatia blushed in embarrassment and hurriedly turned to look forward.
This isn't good. She can't behave like this!
Alatia reprimanded herself in mind and decided to stare at her lover when they were alone.
"Hello!" Suddenly a familiar person appeared in Kyle's vision and Alatia stiffened.
It wasn't the person who greeted her that troubled Alatia rather it was the person following her.
"Miss Emily." Alatia greeted the pink-headed girl who had scored great results in the entrance exams and concluded in the second position—just below Alatia.
Just for a moment, the princess glanced at the short-haired girl in whom Kyle had been quite interested yesterday.
She narrowed her eyes and found her hue to be ranging around 'wariness' and 'curiosity'.
Alatia didn't focus on Elera for long as she heard Emily asking, "Your Highness, can I be your friend?"
Kyle raised his brows at the outgoing personality who didn't find Alatia's cold demeanor as a sign to back off.
In response to Emily's query, Alatia nodded and said, "I am more than fine to have you as my acquaintance. Okay then, see you later."
Just at the entrance of the academic building, Alatia stepped toward the left—which was the opposite of the classroom and walked away before Emily could say anything else.
Kyle, naturally, followed her and completely ignored the glare directed by Elera.
Once they were away from the duo, Kyle asked, "You don't plan on befriending anyone here?"
Earlier, Alatia made it clear to Emily that she could only be an acquaintance but not a friend. And that remark brought that glare from Elera, which never bothered Alatia.
In response to his question, Alatia indifferently replied, "I have a far greater reason to be here rather than making friends."
Kyle raised his brows with a slight nod of admiration. His lady is really focused on her goal, eh?

"I will wait for you here," Kyle said as he stood near the entrance of the Council office. Naturally, he wasn't allowed to go inside, rather other than the council members and the teachers, no one was allowed to walk in without permission.
Alatia nodded to him, and without any sign of anxiety, she knocked on the door and parted it.
"Oh, you are here~" Everyone turned to look at the person, who was called out by the Council President.
"Sorry for the disturbance." Alatia gave a slight bow once she reached the President's table.
The council office had two long tables on either side of the room where the other members sat. A separate big table was provided for the President.
The red-haired President shook her head and while indicating toward the others, she said, "They were doing mostly nothing, anyways."
"That's an unfair thing to say, President!" One of the members with military-cut hair got up and with a slam on the desk, he complained.
"Yes, yes! We are working on the budget report here!" Another girl who was the treasurer also rebuked the nonchalant President who doesn't recognise others' work as labour at all.
"Yeah~yeah." Isabelle shrugged and turned her attention back to Alatia, "So Miss Alatia, what do you have decided? Do you want to serve the Council as an administrative assistant or join the Disciplinary division?"
"In the first path, you would need to collect different reports from different divisions, organize them and summarise them before handing them to me. In the second route, you would be given the role of maintaining discipline on the campus."
Alatia had already decided to join the council as a disciplinarian since moving around and dealing with students would allow her to interact with Kyle more.
"I would like to join the Disciplinary department, President." Isabelle sighed in disappointment but somehow she expected it.
With her shoulders slumped and lips droopy, the President spoke, "Very well....along with that freshman, you also join the Disciplinary department...."
Alatia's gaze grew sharp, as she asked, "Who...is the other person?"
However, before Isabella could respond a loud explosion erupted from the outside and the doors of the Council office were blown out of its hinges.
Isabelle along with the other staff immediately got up and advanced towards the entrance. Alatia wasn't much far away, however, unlike others, she was quite anxious about this explosion.
And as she thought, one of the two involved in the commotion was none other than Kyle—and the person he was defending again was...

[Omake]
It was around the time when Alatia and Kyle were training under the Sage before entering the Academy.
Currently, the couple could be seen sitting under a large tree while the blond girl applied burn relieving gel to Kyle's left arm.
Her expression suggested that she was both angry and sad seeing his charred skin and the painful grunts he let out whenever she applied the soothing cream.
"You don't like when someone hurts me, no?" Hearing his voice which was quivering a little made her even more apprehensive.
She used a clean towel to wipe the sweat on his forehead, "The right to hurt you and love you should be only limited to me."
Kyle brought his uninjured arm to her face and softly wiped the moisture accumulated at the corner of her eyes. Cupping her cheek, he made her look at him before uttering,
"That is true but there are things which we cannot control. In the future, there may come a time when someone hurt me pretty bad and despite wanting to, you wouldn't be able to help me."
"There is nothing in the world that can stop me from protecting you."
Kyle smiled at the silly girl before reminding her, "If getting hurt can be profitable to me....would you still intervene?"
Alatia frowned when he said that. An
d until this day she couldn't understand what he meant that day.
