Chapter 1214: Heavenly Dragon Peak

A long and awe-inspiring range of mountains sprouted from the ground like a coiling dragon. The mountains were full of steep peaks that reminded one of the intertwining fangs of a dragon, extending as far as the eye could see.

In the middle of the mountain range was a gigantic peak that towered above the rest and pierced the skies. On it was a majestic city that shone like a heavenly palace.

Streams of light arose from its core and formed a huge layer of light that covered the entirety of Heavenly Dragon Peak like clouds. From afar, it resembled a dragon's scales, continuously flowing with piercing light.

Energy undulations could be felt from the layer of clouds, and even a high-grade Duke seemed insignificant when compared to it.

Clearly, the entirety of Heavenly Dragon Peak was covered by a terrifying defensive ward!

When Heavenly Dragon Peak appeared in Li Luo's field of view, Li Fengyi excitedly gave a quick rundown to the three newcomers.

"This mountain range is known as Heavenly Dragon Peak. The majestic city you see before you is Heavenly Dragon City. It is the result of the combined efforts of the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li's ancestors, who had carved it out from a river of blood and countless battles, finally establishing a place for themselves in World End's River Region. This is the foundation of our existence here. With Heavenly Dragon City as our base, we have erected a Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation, which is capable of blocking even Kings. It possesses unimaginable might, and it is with this ward that Heavenly Dragon Peak remains standing despite the Stygian Rain of Calamity. It is also a location where rogue cultivators come to seek shelter from the disasters that occur regularly here. Within Heavenly Dragon City is also a renowned location named the Heavenly Dragon Arch. That is where many rogue cultivators and experts gather and choose to exchange information or cooperate with each other. Most importantly, it's where they go to exchange Foundational Spirit Treasures for ones that suit them better. Li Luo nodded absentmindedly as he focused on the mysterious, fragmented cloud layer that resembled a dragon's golden scales. It was tens of thousands of meters wide and the entirety of Heavenly Dragon Peak was within its sphere of influence. The moment they stepped into its range, specks of golden light that could barely be seen by the naked eye descended from the skies. Although the golden light did not possess any killing power, it seemed to possess the power to detect.

This was probably a method used to identify and counter the Others.

The moment an Other stepped into its range, the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation would sense it.

"Even the pressure of the World End's River is blocked by it."

Li Luo raised his head. The feeling of pressure that had been bothering him had completely vanished, allowing him to inadvertently sigh in relief.

This was the might of a Heavenly Emperor power. They were able to create a sacred line that was undefiled by the Others despite being in the middle of a dangerous region. As the group continued to chat with each other, they crossed over numerous mountains, rivers, and forests before finally arriving at Heavenly Dragon City.

Only when he was close did he realize the sheer size of the city. Xia City seemed puny when compared to this.

Li Luo sighed in amazement when he sensed countless strong energy undulations that mostly belong to Dukes.

There were probably a hundred times more Dukes here than in the Xia Kingdom. In the skies above, the golden dragon scales continue to flow and flicker, covering the entirety of the city and forming a forbidden airspace that none could trespass.

"No outsiders are allowed to fly in Heavenly Dragon City. Only the Five Guardian Armies possess a token that allows them to do so unimpeded," Li Foluo cooly explained. A dark-golden plaque flew out of his sleeve. A "general" character was engraved on it, and a dragon flew around the character. When he held the plaque up to the golden dragon scales, a passage opened up before them.

Li Fengyi smiled. "Heavenly Dragon City is massive, and each of the Five Guardian Armies is assigned a corner of the city to watch over. The areas we occupy are known as the Heavenly Dragon's Five Gates. The Dragon's Fang Guardians thus guard the Dragon Fang Gate. During normal days, our duty is to remain on guard and maintain the peace and stability of the area, to prevent any unruly Dukes from causing chaos."

Li Foluo suddenly turned towards the trio and said, "What are your plans upon entering the Dragon's Fang Guardians? What sort of position do you want?"

He first looked at Jiang Qing'e. "With a first-grade Duke's strength, you can choose to go for the position of a Grand Commander."

Jiang Qing'e glanced back at him. "I choose to fight for the position of Dragon Fang Envoy."

Li Foluo was a little taken aback. Was his explanation unclear? Why was she jumping the gun? "A Dragon Fang Envoy requires a second-grade Duke's strength."

Although Jiang Qing'e had a Ten-Pillar Duke Bergfried, she was still a first-grade Duke. Wasn't she underestimating second and third-grade Dukes a little too much?

"I know," Jiang Qing'e calmly replied with a nod.

Li Foluo frowned as he felt troubled in his heart. Jiang Qing'e was clearly a stunning and unparalleled genius, but her untamed spirit was also extraordinary.

The Dragon's Fang Guardians had ten thousand individuals in total, and beneath the four Grand Commanders were the Thousand Guardians. As the name suggested, they each led a thousand soldiers.

Li Luo hurriedly shook his head upon hearing those words. "I'm aiming for the position of Grand Commander."

A vein bulged from Li Foluo's forehead at this point in time from his sheer frustration. He said in a low voice, "The four Grand Commanders are all Dukes."

This was met with a grin. "If I have to fight a Duke, then so be it."

Li Foluo gave him a deep look. "The Five Guardian Armies do not allow for external strength when it comes to contesting for positions. Strength is king, and this is an ironclad rule set by the Ancestor."

He had clearly heard about Li Luo possessing the ability to tap on a spirit beast's strength and had thought that he was planning to rely on it.

Li Luo nodded and expressed his understanding.

"So you’re saying you plan to beat a Duke when you’re only at the Greater Heavenly Resonance Tier?"

"It's not against the rules, right?" Li Luo asked.

Li Foluo fell silent for a few breaths of time. "You are the previous generation's Dragon's Head. There are many amongst the Dragon's Fang Guardians who know of you and respect you greatly. If you wish to fight for that position, the Dragon's Fang Guardians should approve. However, there is an event called the Ceremony of Ascent where all the Five Guardian Armies gather and exchange pointers. As a new position holder, you may attract the challenges from the other four armies. The Dragon's Blood Guardians will not let you off so easily, especially after seeing Li Hongyou's situation. If you wish to stand out, it will give them a chance to retaliate. Thus, I advise you to lay low for a period of time. After you enter the Duke Stage and form your Duke Bergfried, you can attempt to take the position."

Li Luo took in his words and gave Li Foluo a sincere smile. "Guardian General, you are kind and you are indeed giving good advice... however...I simply don't have the time to endure quietly."

He had a helpless expression on his face. He had come to the World End's River Region to temper himself and break into the Duke Stage at the quickest possible speed. What he needed was challenges and not to retreat.

Furthermore, the higher his position in the Five Guardian Armies, the better the remuneration and the more opportunities there would be.

Climbing steadily did not suit him.

Li Foluo stopped speaking when he heard his response. He turned a little expressionless, clearly a little overwhelmed by these two prickly thorns.

He finally turned towards Li Hongyou with a numb expression. "What about you?"

When she saw the face he was making, she couldn't help but beam at him before shaking her head. "I'll follow your advice."

This answer finally caused his expression to soften. He brought the group into Heavenly Dragon City and headed towards the Dragon Fang Gate.

At the same time, he gave a command to Li Fengyi and Li Jingtao.

"Recall the Dragon's Fang Guardians. Let them know that... two little ancestors have arrived."
