Water slid down the filthy walls as the girl collapsed on the ground, clutching her throat, trying to speak, but no sound came out.

Her father was dead.

Blood as dark as pitch leaked from the corners of Iotina’s mouth, and the intense pain brought back memories of that moment.

She had set out to sea with her father, but before they had sailed far, a group of terrifying beings suddenly descended upon them.

Iotina had watched her father’s head get crushed, his body sinking to the ocean floor, while she herself was taken away by these monsters.

They wanted her voice, and for that, they killed her father.

But Iotina didn’t let the despicable father and daughter get what they wanted; along the way, she swallowed the ’Charred Branch Jellyfish,’ a creature that could cause immense damage to a human’s throat.

Iotina had always carried it with her, never leaving it behind.

It was for the protection of her father and herself, in case they ever encountered someone coveting her voice. With it, she could threaten the other party.

Even if she truly failed, the girl could swallow it, making sure at least that her enemies would not get their way.

Iotina would rather die than let Agate and Emily, the murderers of her father, have her voice.

However, the father and daughter were clearly more vicious than Iotina had anticipated.

The intense pain in her mouth, the flesh burnt and rotting from inside, days without a drop of water, and no one to treat her, she could only die a slow and agonizing death.

Tears fell unceasingly. Iotina had no fear of death.

Without family, she had no place in this world, nor the courage to keep living.
