A random pokemon journey

Chat before setting out

"You aren't the first to think that and I doubt you'll be the last." I said with a chuckle. I took the dishes from her and left the room to go clean them. While I did that she got up and took a shower to clean up. When she came out of the bathroom wearing nothing but a bathrobe while her hair was wrapped in a towel I raised an eyebrow at her. "What I took three days off work so I'm not in a hurry to get dressed or anything." She explained casually.-

I nodded at that as it made sense. Even a very busy and important person like a league champion had the right to take time to themselves so long as it wasn't overly long. I didn't say anything after that and finished up the dishes. "You need a contraceptive potion or are you good?" I asked casually while placing Hade's keystone in my shorts pocket. "I took a three day one before coming to this village." Cynthia answered equally casually. "I've read the file but I still find it hard to believe you can keep that Spiritomb so tame in public, mine has to remain in its ball or it lashes out at anyone who gets too close to me." She said looking at the slightly bulging pocket that housed my ghost.-

"You have a Spiritomb?" I asked surprised. For good reason too as the species was notoriously territorial with the few people who manage to bond with them. This more often than not meant they were the only pokemon that said individuals could own as the rest rarely survived. "Yes, though mine refused any name I offered it when I managed to convince it to join me. I found it during one of my digs in fact, it's a normal one though unlike yours." She explained honestly.-n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Hades was newborn when I acquired it so my own situation in that regard is rather unique but how have you kept yours from trying to kill your other pokemon?" I asked curiously. She sighed "It's not been easy I can tell you that. Mine was old when I found it, old and vicious. I still wanted it on my team though, how could I not when it held such raw power and potential? Unfortunately like many before me I underestimated exactly how troublesome the thing was going to be."-

"Convincing it to be mine was surprisingly easy, it was lonely despite it's territorial nature and after being defeated saw value in my offer. At first everything was going well and I thought to myself 'why does all the files say it's hard to handle?' I soon learned. The first sign of trouble was when it'd threaten anything that got within a certain distance to me. It only got worse from there as it began to lash out and force my other pokemon away from me. "-

"One day however it reached the breaking point and I had to make a deal with it to keep it tame and from harming my other pokemon. I keep it in it's ball for the vast majority of the time and it battles for me and will train under my orders so long as for five days of the month it has my undivided attention." She explains with a slightly regretful look. It was easy to understand what she regretted too. She was more or less trapped with her Spiritomb just like me unless she wanted to be horribly cruel and abandon or exercise it.-

Unlike in my situation however her Spiritomb was FAR more of a burden than a benefit. Hades was both incredibly powerful and harmless to me and those around me so long as nobody made any threatening moves. Hell it was downright handy to have around due to basically having a ridiculous amount of utility as a bodyguard, battler, sentry and even help with tasks needing more than two hands. For her though she had to make sacrifices and more or less only use it for specific reasons like battling and training. She clearly wasn't expecting this when she chose to get it and now had to deal with the consequences of that choice.-

"Despite how it appears Hades is not any different than your Spiritomb in nature. It has a mean streak miles wide, something you've no doubt seen from my file. The difference between us is that you promised your Spiritomb you and I promised mine a family. This is why mine is more controlled than yours. Hades knows that it will only hurt us if it acts out without my say otherwise and thus keeps itself in check. It has never truly known what it is to be alone and it's selfish nature means it never will risk that fate if it can help it." I say honestly as I pat my pocket.-

"Hindsight sucks." She said after understanding what I said. I shrugged "Nothing for regret I'm afraid. Regardless it's about time I set out, still have a few days time till I reach Jubilife after all " I said letting her know I was leaving. "Why not just fly there?" She asked curiously. "Because the journey is just as important as the destination. If I skipped straight to the end I'll miss all the experiences along the way." I said with a grin before heading out.-

I meant it too. Sure I wanted to reach my goal as soon as possible but this wasn't something you could just up and DO, it took time. Since that's the case why should I rush it? I was glad I didn't as good and bad I grew from every experience I had. Perhaps that was what would let me go through the vast time I had ahead of me if I truly became a god. All my memories would see me sane and balanced at that time I had no doubt about it.-

Walking out of the house I was immediately greeted by the warmth of the sun and a nip in the air blown from the frozen parts of Sinnoh. I was relaxed as I left the village from the opposite gate I entered and returned to the wilderness.
