Chapter 100.3

It was another message from Zhang Ning: Uncle Li was brought back to the police station by some police officers. There was another man arrested with him. This drama with Ji Xinxin is blowing out of proportions!

How can it not blow out of proportions? This is, after all, a kidnapping case.

Before she could reply, Zhang Ning had followed up with another text message: Holy moly! An ambulance came by. Li Mingyue had gotten into the ambulance with the victim. I wonder if that person is Ji Xinxin.

Ji Fanyins steps halted.

Ambulance?

If Ji Xinxin was not one of the people taken back to the police station for questioning, it is highly probable she is the one currently laying in the ambulance.

Considering the current situation, the only possible emergency Ji Xinxin could have that would require an ambulance and the accompaniment of Li Mingyue would only be

Ah, Big Sister, youre here? Chen Yunsheng craned his neck out of the kitchen to greet her. Ill be done soon. Theres tea on the table, do help yourself to it. Food will be ready in ten minutes.

The sudden interjection from Chen Yunsheng had broken Ji Fanyins train of thought.

She looked in the direction of his voice but he had already gone back into the kitchen and was working on multiple tasks at the same time. He looked like he could do with another 2 pairs of arms.

Forget it, whatever had to do with Ji Xinxin and Cen Xiangyang, let them be.

Ji Fanyin threw all thoughts about the drama to the back of her mind and strolled towards the kitchen, effectively bypassing the tea on the table. She leaned idly on the door frame and fixated her eyes on the busy Chen Yunsheng with crossed arms.

The youngster did not notice her at first. He had his attention focused on maneuvering the two pots on the stove and monitoring the rice cooker at the side.

However, as time went on, his expression gradually became more and more uneasy, as did his actions. When he lost his grip on the spatula in his hand which caused it to almost fall on the cooktop, Ji Fanyin decided to let the youngster off.

She stifled her laughter and cleared her throat. Shall I go set the table first?

Chen Yunsheng quietly pulled out a nearby drawer, revealing a variety of utensils inside, and quickly returned to the stove.

Once Ji Fanyin diverted her gaze towards the drawer, he let out a soft, nearly inaudible, sigh. But this sigh of relief was not left undetected by her.

Deciding not to distress the youngster further, she stepped out of the kitchen after grabbing two sets of utensils and made her way to the dining area for tea.

Even though Ji Fanyin knew she owed Chen Yunsheng a reply today, it was not something she could readily give, especially with the uncertainty of her future existence in this world.

If not for Bai Zhous unaccounted-for emotional compensation, she would have liked to leave the conversation to a dinner setting when the atmosphere would have been more apt.
