Chapter 135: Gobe Country's Secret Advisors Part 2

Chapter 135: Gobe Country's Secret Advisors Part 2

The king wore a red robe that had dragons and other patterns woven into it with golden thread and it seemed to be made of beast skin, along with the rest of his clothes. They also seemed to be inscribed with runes that would protect him and had other functions as he left the royal courtroom and headed towards his private courters.

The existence of the advisors was secret and they were the most knowledgeable and powerful group that run the country from behind the scenes, using the king as a puppet to hold the throne and take the role of king.

The royal palace was enormous and had many different routes and areas, which included a secret underground area that was only known and accessible by the king and the advisors.

After reaching the royal quarters, there was a massive bedroom that belonged to him and his wife, who became the queen after he became the king. However, just because she was his wife, it didn't mean that he was faithful to her.

Since he had become king, he could do almost anything he pleased without suffering any repercussions and had many different concubines. The queen didn't say anything as she still had power and influence and couldn't do anything even if she wanted to.

After she gave birth to the young prodigy of the royal family that was on track to surpass all his predecessors, her position as queen was solidified trhgouh the influence and power that her son would gain in the future.

However, from the way that it was going, it didn't seem as though her son had any intention of inheriting the throne despite everybody thinking that and he was most focused on cultivating and leaving the country after he had gained enough power and knowledge.

Becuase of that, the queen had no choice but to submit herself to the king and not try to cause him trouble despite him having multiple concubines, that were all talented and beautiful women that were offering themselves to him in the hopes of having talented children.

As long as the queen's son was still the most talented out of all the new generation of royals, there was nobody that could threaten her position as the queen.

Connected to the main royal bedroom that belonged to the king and the queen, was the royal vault that held most of the treasure and wealth of the royal family, or so people thought.

The real treasure that was owned by the royal family was hidden underground in a secret lair that was built before the royal palace by the Gobe Family Anscesgor and it was where he left all of his knowledge and treasures to be inherited by the next kings.

However, after stepping down from the throne, the second king of the Gobe Country wanted to keep most of the treasure and knowledge that was underground to himself and because of that became an advisor to the next king and kept the power from the shadows.

From that, the group of hidden advisors that were in control of everything from the shadows and could leave and return to the country as they pleased was formed and each king would become the puppet of the advisors.

The advisors were formed of the most talented and knowledgable descendants of the royal family that had left the country and explored the continent, then returned without revealing themselves.

In the corner of his royal chamber was a purple crystal and upon dripping his blood onto it, the wall before him and the floor began to move as a stairwell revealed itself before him.

As soon as he stepped into the stairwell, the royal chambers shifted back to how it was before and lights suddenly turned on along the walls of the stairwell that led underground.

There were other entrances to the underground lair and the king didn't know where they were or how large the underground lair was, but what he did know was that he couldn't go against the advisors.

They could kill him with ease, despite him being a peak Mortal Cultivator that was skilled and known as the strongest cultivator in the country, and if he wanted to become one of them after stepping down from the throne, he needed to listen to them so that they would accept him.

Most kings wouldn't hold the throne for more than 20 years and would either fake their deaths, or actually be killed. In the cases where the kings were killed, it was always because they tried to go against the advisors and had to be put down and replaced by them.

The stairwell was quite long and took him deep underground as he walked down to find a large hall-like room with 10 older people sat around a round table.

"Welcome young one. What brings you here at this time?" asked one of the advisors.

They hadn't called for a meeting and they didn't know of anything that he needed from them.

Usually, the king would talk to around 20 advisors when he was giving his monthly reports or was called for a meeting and had a communication device that he could use to call them in case of emergencies, which they could also contact him through.

However, overall he had seen around 30 different advisors that would interchangeably leave the country to explore, cultivate and acquire more knowledge and most of them had organisations of their own within the country, that were all supported by the royal family.

Each of them seemed to be at a cultivation level that surpassed the Mortal Cultivation Level and until he became an advisor and accepted by them, the king wouldn't be able to do so and hadn't been able to do so for the past 15 years.

No matter how much he honed his skills and trained, he wasn't able to surpass the Mortal Cultivation Level and he was completely under the control of the advisors.

"There is something quite urgent that I must speak with you about" stated the king.
