Chapter 2368: Hunting
Chapter 2368: Hunting
That was a good move.
Yagrit reappeared far away from Sam. She dropped the remnants of the crushed transference token in her hand and was about to run in a certain direction. However, all of a sudden,
*SWOOSH*
A spear of lightning zapped her.
It brushed past her face. The electric current, made her muscles stiff. Her facial muscles in particular. She had a momentary lapse in her movements. That is all Sam needed.
*SWOOSH*
Another spear rushed through the wind. It landed on her palm. Precisely on her fingers. Her pinky finger of the left hand exploded. Not only was her finger lost, but the lightning burned the stump and charred it.
Yagrit felt like her life was taken away from her, for a moment.
She immediately activated another transference token. The lightning bolt just missed her by hair's breadth. When she reappeared at the new location, she didn't even turn around to take a look. She took out another transference token and used it to travel in a random direction.
Then another token and finally at the third stop, she hurriedly used a defensive barrier token that surrounded her with a translucent barrier.
*BOOM*
The moment it did, a lightning bolt came and hit it. The spherical barrier, held her inside, it is pretty good.
It blocked the full extent of the attack from reaching her. However, it wasn't really as solid and stationary as she would have wanted. The sphere flew like a bouncy ball with the impact. She crashed into a couple of rocks and debris, before she halted.
Yagrit felt shaken. Her mind was abuzz and she couldn't even make sense of her location.
But she did manage to make sense of something else. A sense of danger.
*SWOOSH* *BOOM*
The lightning hit the sphere from the stop and this time, it didn't bounce off and it also didn't make the ball fly away. Instead, the bolt is pressing down into the barrier, making it dig deeper into the ground. Yagrit never felt this helpless.
As she noticed the soil's elevation increase around the barrier, her first instinct is to just disable the barrier and slip away. However, she noticed that the moment she disables the barrier, the bolt will come at her.
The direction of its movement...
It is aimed at her. She checked the reserves of the transference tokens. There are a few. But not as many as she wanted.
She gulped anxiously and took out a token. She crushed it.
The barrier disappeared into a mass of sparkles as she disappeared.
Sam also made his move, following her to the next location.
The chase continued.
Meanwhile, outside the pocket dimension, back in the Thor academy, the spectators became more tense than ever. Chorus who is usually laid back is also looking at the scene intently, while Dove is having second thoughts about her approach to Sam.
She put him in this team combat competition, it has long since stopped being that.
She knew he will attract a lot of heat to the Gambler academy. Her intention to use that heat as a whetstone to sharpen the gambler academy... She felt like maybe she bit off more than she can chew.
She turned to look at the fourth graders of the Heimdall academy. They are eyeing her like they are looking at a prey that just fattened to its peak. She knew they would chew her head off the moment they get a chance.
With the way he is handling Yagrit, she doubted if the Heimdall academy will be able to hold it in for long and not break the no-killing rule.
She also noticed how tense Chorus has become.
"What is happening? You are acting weird. The team is getting restless because of you."
Chorus' frown deepened, but he didn't speak.
He just looked at the screen and then he turned to look at the same spot in the crowd. Meanwhile, back inside Yagrit felt like she is living through her worse nightmare. Wherever she went, Sam is there behind her.
He moved like he was living in her shadow. Every turn she took, every trick she had, no matter what she used, he managed to find a way around it and destroyed them. But that is not even the scariest part of it.
She has given clean openings to him many times in this chase.
However, Sam didn't take it.
Instead, every attack he made, it always hit her where it wouldn't be lethal. He took out her fingers, her toes. He even waited until she managed to recover herself enough to run again. He went after her. Hit her with lightning bolts that barely created some cuts on her body and zapped her all over.
She crashed into the ground, broke a few teeth, bruises all over her body. Her heart... she didn't even know how many times she felt like it is going to stop and how many times it came back to beating.
Whenever she lost her strength, Sam once again left her alone.
He even stayed within her line of sight and made sure that he knew that he gave her that breathing space.
Whenever she tried to make a conversation in that time. Maybe trying to find a way out of this torture, he made a move. He made her run for her life once again. Just a couple of hours in that situation, she felt like she has been running for twenty days or so.
When she was on sixth break, Sam finally let her speak.
"Why the fuck are you doing this? What are you getting out of this? Are you some kind of fucking psycho?"
Sam just shrugged as he stood in the air.
"Well, you better love being hunted down just like how you like hunting. My mother and father... they will kill you. They will kill you and everything that you ever appreciated." "Someone will. But I doubt it would be your mother and father."
"A vermin like you. You dare make a judgement about my mother and father? You are notn/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
even..."
*SWOOSH*
The lightning bolt brushed past her cheek and landed behind her.
"Seems like you are getting over your head, just because I let you speak for a while. I thought,
I should be merciful and let you speak with your parents for a while. I am sure, they are
listening from out there.
I am sure, the father and mother who gave birth to you, will appreciate you sending them your
love for one last time."
Yagrit froze.
She went into a deep thought before she seemed to have come to a decision. She crushed a token and disappeared from there. Her second last transference token.
Sam didn't hurry after her. Instead he paused and said out loud.
"I don't know what to say man. I did try to get her to speak with you. I believe you deserve to hear from your daughter, at least one time. At least one time before she dies here."
The dean of Heimdall academy felt a bit tense as he looked at Sam. For a moment, Sam's eyes felt like they are peering through the screen and are piercing his heart.
His heart beat wildly and he looked at his wife. His wife avoided his gaze. Tears dripped down
her eyes. Her fists clenched.
She had a really really bad premonition.
After five minutes, Sam finally made his move. He disappeared and reappeared at the spot
where Yagrit appeared after using her token.
She is not there.
He could sense the spatial energy fluctuations though. He also has a couple of specters that
saw in which director she ran in.
He couldn't help but smile.
She also took off in that same direction. Chasing her at a moderate speed.
While the chase is still going on, back at the edge of the now burned down dead forest...
The two teams are working like a clock.
Hari is leading his team of ten along with Rashma and Crow. Drik is handling the remaining.
These two teams worked alternatively. One of them worked in increasing the skeletons' level, while the other worked on destroying the black skeleton. Then they exchanged the
formations.
When Hari's team changed from the black skeleton formation to the growth formation, Drik's went to the black skeleton formation.
Of course, a black skeleton has been lured into the formation for the Drik's team to destroy. Rashma and Hari are done with the luring and went back to the formation. Fighting against
one of the low level skeletons, bringing it up to the speed.
Drik looked at the soon-to-be servant who pursed his lips and nodded his head.
Drik addressed the rest of the team.
"Get into positions. It is go time."
They shifted from their original positions and conjured their attacks. They looked at the black
skeleton, joining together back to its original shape."
Back in the open field, Yagrit is panting heavily, looking into the horizon at Sam who is
approaching her.
