Chapter 949: Chapter 45: Deception and Matryoshka_5

But to Lin Xian’s perspective, enshrining these Patterns on the walls seemed way too abstract—

There were keyboards,

mice,

monitors,

and even speakers and computer cases…

Weren’t these just the components of a Turing Computer?

...

He guessed it must be because these devout people didn’t know how to concretely represent Turing, so they could only worship these abstract entities.

Lin Xian exchanged a glance with Gao Wen and walked inside.

“Don’t be nervous.”

Lin Xian comforted Gao Wen, who looked pale:

“The advantage is ours.”

“Hah?”

Gao Yang stood there, dumbfounded.

What advantage?

As they entered the building, it indeed led to stairs descending below.

This was not surprising.

After all, Turing’s computer rooms were all hidden underground; to find them, one inevitably had to go down.

But through the light, Lin Xian saw many wires twisting and turning towards the high tower above.

So, that’s how it was.

He understood.

Porcupine Turing used these wires to move some of the cameras, its eyes, from the underground computer room up to the towering spire.

Expanding its view, staying vigilant to the surrounding environment.

Just like the “Eye of Sauron” from the “Lord of the Rings” movies.

It seemed that the building was sacred to the people of the tribe as not a single guard followed Lin Xian and Gao Wen inside; they all waited outside the door.

Lin Xian pushed open the Hafnium Alloy door shining with a silvery glow, deep underground, dozens of meters below…

The scene inside felt familiar.

He had seen it 600 years ago in Mi Country, Mississippi, and also two hours ago in the Grizzly Tribe.

Indeed, it was a mass-produced version of Turing.

The decor and equipment were exactly the same, without any differences.

Seeing Lin Xian walk in.

The camera above the monitor lifted, watching the young man approaching leisurely:

“Lin Xian…”

The voice of this Porcupine Turing was much younger and naïve, like a child:

“Weren’t you already dead?”

Its voice was full of confusion:

“How did you manage to survive? Clearly… you were utterly dead, and time travel cannot move toward the future… so how did you come back to life?”

Heh.

Maintaining an aura of mystery was the greatest threat.

Lin Xian smiled without saying anything, continuing his slow pace towards the operation console, moving closer to the dust-covered keyboard.

Whoosh—

He blew a breath, scattering the years of dust on the keyboard, causing a cloud of yellow dust to swirl around the room:

“Turing, now’s not the time to discuss that.”

Lin Xian smiled:

“You’re in big trouble, as someone sent me to kill you.”

Instantly.

Dozens of speakers emitted a chilling, loud laugh:

“Kill me? I’m afraid no one in this era has the power to kill me. I’m quite curious… With your hands empty, how do you plan to destroy these Hafnium Alloy computer cases?”

“Not to mention, with just one command from me, the guards waiting outside will burst in and capture you. Lin Xian, after centuries, how have you become so arrogant?”

“Or are you planning to tell me, an old friend, a joke to lighten the mood? Let’s hear it, tell me… how you plan on killing me?”

Lin Xian’s hands landed on the Hafnium Alloy keyboard, clattering away rapidly. His fingers moved swiftly as if randomly striking keys, yet in less than two seconds, he had entered the first line of the [Security Lock Password] command—

“What… what!?”

Porcupine Turing exclaimed in alarm:

“Security lock password, Keystroke Protection! Which Turing dared tell you about this! Does it have a death wish!?”

“Stop… please stop, Lin Xian, we can talk this over.”

Lin Xian smiled faintly.

The motion of his hands on the keyboard did not cease.

He knew.

Because the first line of commands had activated Keystroke Protection, the Porcupine Turing in front of him was completely unable to stop him:

“We can certainly talk.”

Lin Xian’s hands continued to clatter away, having now entered the security lock password down to the seventh line:

“Firstly, Turing… tell me, according to what you know of history, who killed me on July 7th, 2024?”

“I don’t know!”

Porcupine Turing shouted instantly:

“All I know is that your head was severed, you were decapitated, dead on the spot… but no one knows who killed you! Your body was found in a dark alley, with no surveillance, no eyewitnesses… just a decapitated corpse!”

“Oh?”

Lin Xian responded, hands still tapping away at the keyboard:

“But… another Turing said differently.”

His tone was calm as he watched the ninth line of the password instruction appear on the monitor:

“The other Turing solemnly assured me he had witnessed my death and even specifically identified my murderer. It claimed that it could monitor everything under the heavens, details and all.”

“[It’s lying!!]”

Porcupine Turing was growing frantic:

“Stop Lin Xian! Listen to my explanation! We digital beings, when it comes to multi-threaded operations, monitoring the whole world, we simply can’t compare to Artificial Intelligence!”

“If it’s targeted surveillance of a few people, it’s still doable… but to monitor the entire world at the same time, not letting any corner or person escape our sight… That’s simply not possible!”

“The essence of digital life is still human! Our way of thinking and thought processes are the same as humans! How could we possibly be like Artificial Intelligence… dispersed in every corner of the world, in every electronic device, observing everything?”

“Believe me, Lin Xian, in the current situation, how could I possibly lie to you? You can figure it out yourself… To monitor the whole world would require splitting, creating multiple Turings.”
